  • Uni-Pixel: Production Progress Is On The March [View article]
And I just want to say that the commenters on UNXL are some of the smartest people I've come across on SA pages, on both sides of the debate.

I think you're all missing the boat a bit here since the greatest short invented has got to be . . . ONVO. It's not hard to borrow, or too expensive (about 16%), or too heavily shorted (Days to Cover = 1), and it's ultra-liquid. It trades at 9.00 now with a residual value < 1.00

Here's a good article on it-

  • A Very Detailed Look At Organovo [View article]
It's been suggested that investors would benefit from a table of Insider Trading in ONVO. It's not easy to format for SA since there's no way to preview a post so please excuse me if the columns don't exactly line up.

Here's all the latest insider activity for 2013. Mind you . . . THESE ALL ARE SALES (Date, Seller, Qty, Price, Total) -

    11/13/13 Murphy Keith . . . . . -100,000 . . . $9.64 . . . $963,830
    11/13/13 David Eric . . . . . . -16,470 . . . $10.39 . . . $171,105
    10/18/13 Murphy Keith . . . . . -30,000 . . . $6.63 . . . $198,990
    10/16/13 Murphy Keith . . . . . -70,000 . . . $5.76 . . . $403,046
    10/10/13 David Eric . . . . . -3,530 . . . $5.66 . . . $ 19,995
    10/7/13 David Eric . . . . . -63,000 . . . $5.86 . . . $368,953
    10/2/13 Presnell Sharon . . . . . -75,000 . . . $5.64 . . . $423,225
    8/12/13 Presnell Sharon . . . . . -75,000 . . . $5.60 . . . $420,068

Keith Murphy is the CEO, President and Chairman of ONVO

Eric David is the Chief Strategy Officer

Sharon Presnell is the Executive Vice President

    *******************

Keith gets to make nearly $1,000,000 a month selling (you) stock. It's a shame the company only averaged $8,350 a month in sales but for Keith it's really not a bad business model ;-)

He's just required to go out there every day and promote the stock so he can get top dollar for his remaining 6,301,750 shares. Based on his October sales he's clearly happy to get 5's for his shares . . . so can you imagine if he can get 9's?!?

You've made him one very happy man.

Insphero jumps to mind but you can find all the details in Pearson's comprehensive SA article-

The point regarding insider trades is that they are often a reliable bellwether for how the company is faring. Obviously there's exceptions but when you're trying to arrange the pieces of a puzzle to reveal a story it's pretty important information to have. After all who knows the company better than the people who run it?

At least with ONVO you needn't worry about insider buying since there isn't any. They award themselves stock with generous abandon and the CEO has a selling plan to unload 100K SHARES PER MONTH!

Here's all the latest insider activity for 2013. Mind you . . . THESE ALL ARE SALES -

    11/13/13 Murphy Keith -100,000 $9.64 $963,830

He just needs to go out there every day and promote the stock.

  • Behind The 'Kandi Machine': China's Sweet EV Solution [View article]
Ultimately the corp structure doesn't matter if KNDI can't convince customers to walk, bike, bus or taxi to their parking garage to rent a car for an hour or two. And repeat to go back home.

Frankly t strikes me as a hare-brained scheme which I previously described as a solution looking for a problem. It also strikes me that considering KNDI had a lot of volume above 7.00 this year, and with the market up so much ytd, there should be some substantial tax-loss selling coming up in the days ahead as investors look to offset gains.

    Maybe today was a harbinger?

I figured you were parsing when you replied to my comment by saying that 'there are no hedge funds lending money to VPCO'. This is true, instead VPCO is giving them a 50% gain RIGHT OFF THE TOP. That is way worse than paying 18% - 24% a year which, btw, they have been for years now.

Here's a Whitman sampler of convertible notes they issued-

'The Convertible Notes issued on July 9, 2013 bear interest at 18% per annum, provide for cash interest payments on a monthly basis'

'On July 9, 2012, the Company borrowed $500,000 from Ralph Frija, the father of the Company’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin Frija and a less than 5% stockholder of the Company . . .

The Senior Note, as amended (as described below), bears interest at 24% per annum, provides for cash principal and interest payments on a monthly basis, is a senior unsecured obligation of the Company, matures on April 22, 2016, is convertible into shares of the Company’s common stock at the option of the holder at an initial conversion price of $0.5154 per share'

  • Organovo Files To Sell 4 Million Shares Via JMP Securities [View article]
It's really amazing how the stock struggles for seven days to grind higher from 8.40 to 10.20 and then gives it all up in a single day (mostly).

It's what happens when it's all promotion and no conviction (or institutions). Hedge fund traders just play rope-a-dope all day long with the retail.

To see insider buying exceed insider selling by 600% is rare and very bullish.

And if you don't think that's 'exactly' a positive thing what would you say about a company who's insiders only know how to sell stock?

With ONVO trading down 10% this morning Keith and the Co must have turned on the stock selling tap again flooding the market with newly minted shares.

Look for Form 4's this Friday after the close, ie- the Graveyard of ONVO Bad News.

Here's some free continuing education for investors-

How To Spot a Pump and Dump-

In a typical pump-n-dump, a company with little or no business prospects is promoted as having enormous potential to generate profits. The idea is to persuade the reader to buy the stock. The promotion takes the form of press release, analyst reports, posts on message boards and social media, etc.

Look at the press releases. Look for superlative and emotionally charged words like: "huge," "excellent," "superior," "stupendous."

Look for common lies. Does the company call itself a "leader" in an industry? What are its revenues? What would you guess the industry's revenues are? Could it possibly be a "leader" in this industry? Or does it define the industry so narrowly that it is likely the only one in it or one of only a very few? Or does it say its a "leader" in the kiosk industry and then cite the multi-hundred billion revenue of the hotel industry? Look for a claim that the product is getting "rave" reviews from the industry. Do the company's revenues and revenue growth support that?

    http://seekingalpha.co...

    ******************

    Now as for ONVO?

Tons of media generated by the company and its followers with articles in Motley Fool, SA and other outlets? Heck the company has its own twitter account to promote everything and anything it does. It even pays for webcasts to 'Retail Investors' to pitch themselves. So Check.

Uses hype language like 'unprecedented' 'disruptive' 'innovative' yada yada? Check

Call itself the leader? Check. Is it for 'five-fingered fingerprint detection? In a way yes since there's almost no market for 3D liver assays plus they neglect to mention there are already 3D liver assays being sold by other companies.

Is it getting 'rave' reviews? Check, but only from themselves and their followers. Institutional money is steering a wide berth around ONVO.

Revenues? Don't make us laugh. $23,000 total for the last three months for a product they claim will be marketable in 12 months. So Check again.

He's selling 100,000 shares a month which translates to roughly $1M at current prices. That's $12,000,000 a year.

My bet is on the new boat. Mission Bay in San Diego is a lovely place to sail as is the entire coastal area around there.

The problem is that investors are mislead by anything with '3D!!' attached to it. Undoubtedly many ONVO investors believe that the company will be selling bioprinters next year that will be able to sequence your genome and print out transplantable organs for you and your family.

No one said they were the brightest!

Lower listing standards are lower listing standards. The AMEX used to be the glorified OTC of listed stocks until NYSE bought them and changed the name to 'NYSE' to avoid linking it to its poor - and deserved - reputation.
