  • UniPixel rallies following bullish SA article [View news story]
Always love these pr-driven spikes! They're an excellent opportunity to sell or get short into since they generally don't last more than a day or two.

    Then everyone forgets.

Mark, if it were that simple they would have posted gains, not losses, in six of the past seven quarters.

What's hilarious is that the analyst covering FARM is still posting earnings predictions. Apparently no amount of wrong, nor that their last four predicts missed by -100% to - %700%, seems to bother him/her. Are they trying to make yours look good by comparison, lol?

  • RVLT - Selling Retail Investors A Field Of Dreams [View instapost]
It's a funny thing but you can have the most strongly motivated retail buyers in the world who really swallow the hype, and back it up by opening their wallets, and it will carry the stock higher over the short term. But when you have a parcel of rich, well-advised investors, who a year ago took a gamble and lent the company money repayable in millions of 70c shares, they're going to take advantage of that once-in-a-lifetime buying volume to unload their stock and cash in a 500% gain. Who wouldn't?

If you're saying to yourself 'I wouldn't' then you know why you're not one of those rich investors.

What it means is that Kodak isn't going to willy-nilly spend millions of dollars on an unproven process. Therefore they're setting milestones for their partners, in this case UNXL, to achieve before they go too far with this. It's the same kind of milestone UNXL did not achieve in their initial sample submission to the mystery OEM and which caused them to be rejected.

I haven't analyzed this enough to come to any conclusions about the similarities between FARM and JVA but they both engaged in hedging strategies which blew up in their faces. Obviously no one anticipated the complete crash in coffee bean prices but using futures to lock-in prices meant that they were stuck paying prices far above market.

It doesn't take a genius to look at their quarterlies, see the size of their hedging positions, and deduce what effect it's going to have on earnings.

With FARM announcing today that they'll be late filing this time it's time for me to hit the books again and refresh my memory of what's going on.

Congratulations Mark. At least you could see that JVA's numbers were 'horrible'. Acknowledging your numbers problem is the first step in the recovery process. Admitting that you're helpless over your addiction to prognosticating and that you're seeking the support of others and a Higher Being would be the next step.
    **************
Regarding your musing on why JVA is 'hardly down' this is a phenomenon particular to the JVA long who apparently has a very difficult time intersecting with reality. The previous two (not-quite-as) execrable reports put up this year by JVA the stock only went down a smidge the day of the reporting but it followed up with three or four strong down days.

Some people just can't digest the memo in one sitting.

Talk about rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic! You all keep trying to take bullchin to fault for some misperceived error meanwhile the stock continues to tank thanks to the drying up of prospects and hype that used to gull the naive and innocent into wasting their money on this stock.

I wonder what Chris will say next when the PO's, shipments, and ISO certifications don't commence by his announced 'by Oct. 1' date?

  • Coffee Holdings slides after earnings hit from hedging losses [View news story]
This stock has been trading at a 'GMCR' premium for years solely due to the success of that company. JVA does nothing but either make very little money . . . or lose oodles of it. The CEO can't sell his stock fast enough. He's already sold 75% of the 2.4M shares he used to have. His last sales were at 7.00. His next sales - once allowed - will be for whatever price it's trading at now.

But it was nice of them to throw in that sop about China and private label. It might amount to 10 - 15% of total sales while they shoot themselves in the foot over and over and over again with their hedging strategy.

I guess by your standard deliberately leaving out skeptical comments about Kodak's ability to deliver touch screens such as this is also a LIE.

'Even as some of Kodak's technology, like the new touch screens, has potential, Watkins said, it remains to be seen whether the company can transfer that into profits.

"It's cool, absolutely, but is it a business? That's the question," Watkins said.'

On another subject since you've promised PO's, shipments and ISO certifications of Uniboss all by Oct 1 we'll get to see if you're LYING about this too.

The point is that those who throw around accusations of 'LIES!' at the drop of a hat should at least be halfway honest themselves.

  • USEC spike after shares added to SHO buy-in list [View news story]
My bad. On 'Bigcharts' it showed as 1:20 but you're right. OTOH if you're long why are you even pointing this out?

I trade too many stocks to do a thorough analysis going back several 10Q's etc but it seems pretty obvious from the latest 10 and the various SA articles written about USU that they're on a likely collision course with a Chap 11 filing.

There are moments when the momos (momentum traders) spike stocks just because they can (and because they're desperately searching for the next TSLA) but they're not very good at understanding the fundamentals. What's your cause for optimism? US can't do without a domestic supplier of enriched U?

Yeah that's why it would be trading at 65c if they hadn't 1:20 reverse split it, lol.

Maybe you should try buying a stock with residual value above zero instead of hoping for a one-day technical event?

'you are probably wrong unless you are arrogant enough to think you are smarter than the market.'

The answer to that depends on who the particular 'market' is. If it's a market comprised of naive, retail traders easily gulled by technojargon then the answer is a resounding 'YES!', I think I'm a lot smarter than that market. That that market's made me very rich over the last 14 years is further confirmation.

I'm a devotee of the 'in the shortterm the market's a voting machine but over the longterm it's a weighing machine' adage. I short garbage stocks and I don't care if I'm early - just not late! - to the party. I say thank you, I average up, and I'm quite willing to wait half a year if necessary for the market to catch up to me . . . which it usually does (in spades).

Don't feel too bad though; you've been scammed by one of the better promoters out there in RVLT. You could even learn something from the experience to keep you from repeating it such as learning to read and understand articles like this one instead of dismissing them because the author happens to be willing to stake money on their POV and says so.

    Or not.

    1. Okay, maybe it's free but it's not until December and it's frankly totally irrelevant.

    2. 'Your chat with mgmt'. Assuming we believe you (what a coincidence that yesterday you asked them the very question Mark asked today!) what did they say when you asked them why they intend to hold one the following quarter but not this one, or the last one, or the last last one, etc?

    3. Why is Mark lately sounding like the typical Yahoo frustrated messageboard poster instead of the professional analyst he ought to be?
