It is and has been for quite some time- time for change- and I must add "term limits for all politicians including the President" are mandatory if any change is to occur at all.
It all needs to start w/the politicians: Term limits- no pensions- no special health care benefits. Take the job, serve the people, do some good (if one can), & collect a decent salary. Then move on.
I truely enjoyed reading all of the comments...and so many of them. I've moved so many times (renting/building new)....but now at this point in my life it would be soooooo nice to call a place "home."
drys is getting into the oil rigging ships (deep sea) w/leases in hand already (good thing) & they did sell their 3 largest dry cargo ships (good thing). Seems like the place to be now.

But when you look at towns like Greenwich, CT w/homes of 10,000-25,000 sf being built as we speak...and buyers being able to borrow @ 5% (jumbo mtgs)....you really have to wonder who is actually getting the benefit of "lower rates." No hard times here.

Well......what's to be done? I see a lot of comments...but what's the solution(s)? Someone needs to take a position for correction to the situation at hand, and as I see it as mentioned over & over again the situation as is cannot be sustained for much longer. Housing (construction) over the decades (past recessions) has always led the economy out of recessions. Now what? Tea Party (or whatever)?...but I see a new political movement (one that truely represents the hard working (or should I say wanting to work) PEOPLE emerging at some point... And I've always questioned why someone needed (and is paid) a mutimillion dollar SALARY (& of course stock options, etc; etc). How could one indididual ( & perhaps the family) ever spend that much in their lifetime? The factory worker, carpenter, construction worker, fisherman, postal worker, & so on provide much more valuable (& needed)services to this country than do the CEOs who earn millons more (per year per an individual basis). But that is how the pyramids were built! And when all is said & discussed over & over again NOTHING changes......business as usual...but that's the problem.

And one more issue, the SEC should not allow a settlement (would be a disgrace) and furthermore full disclosure must be the norm...too many backdoor deals...this needs to stop and move forward

No more slapping of the wrist....hang them all by the balls I say. Something meaningful needs to come from this....and I mean meaningful. It's a downright shame and ..... well I just get so emotional.....
Gold takes a quick tumble, dropping nearly 1% in minutes to $1.650/oz. (taking silver along for the ride, or vice versa). The fall comes as HSBC hits the tape, cutting its 2012 average gold forecast to $1,760 from $1,850 on a "sharp decline" in Indian demand and reduced expectations for QE. [View news story]
