LG Display (
) started the manufacturing this month of
screens with in-cell technology
, which embeds touch sensors into the displays and avoids the need for a separate touch-screen layer. That allows devices to be thinner. This is all very exciting because of the fevered speculation that the screens will be used in the next iPhone (
). Sharp and Japan Display are also producing in-cell screens.
