  • Barron's sees downside for Plum Creek Timber [View news story]
Demand for timber is quite robust in the Southeast. Stumpage prices are rising rather dramatically. If the harvest is large enough, PCL should have a great 2014.

  • King Coal Takes Another Blow To The Head [View article]
When mines are closed, I tend to think that the existing production
becomes more valuable. If production drops too quickly, prices will spike.

  • Lowering unemployment threshold under discussion at Fed [View news story]
"Politics has been like this for the past 2000+ years though. Nothing new." Sad but true. I would like to think "nothing new", but Im not so sure anymore. The buffoons that are posing as politicians, will never come together to do whats best for America.
Its now about protecting the elite and controlling the masses. We have seen many times over the last 2000 years that sometimes these events don't end nicely. Whats it going to take to change politics for the better ??

  • Keystone opponents pledge sit-ins if pipeline approved [View news story]
They are a vocal get in your face voting block - their antics get attention and often get their way. I would love to see groups of
conservatives being more visible. Boots on the ground make a difference.

  • Shell's planned Pennsylvania ethane plant remains in limbo [View news story]
Thanks - I kinda thought so. I know of several "abandoned" coal mines that were re opened. I am assuming you are experienced in the field of production. It is my belief, right or wrong : ) that CNX made a great purchase of the Dominion acreage. Do you have an opinion ??

Ethanol has its place. Get govt and mandates out of the way and let the markets determine the volume and value.

  • Government shutdown could send ag markets into turmoil [View news story]
The govt. does not need to be involved. There are many other private sources of this info. This number, just like many other "govt forecasts" just add short term volatility.

  • Government shutdown could send ag markets into turmoil [View news story]
These crop forecasts are about as accurate as the hurricane forecasts.
Its the short term speculative money that trades off this info. I think the lack of this info a good thing.

  • Chinese demand for coal is cooling [View news story]
Much of the dirty coal China burns is lignite - brown coal. Very low quality and dirty. I look for lignite to be replaced with a higher quality cleaner burning coal.
