  • How the Impending Food Shortage Will Impact Agriculture Stocks [View article]
Good article. I have been building a position in DBA as it corrects. Today it broke th 200d ma, so further selling should be triggered.

Jim Rogers interview: 6/5/09 on CNBC
    www.cnbc.com/id/31106964
Key points: currency crisis imminent, not shorting anything cause of money printing, but long commodities either due to recovery or inflation. Either way, commodity fundamentals are improving. Wildly bullish on commodities. Prefers silver to gold, prefers agriculture to either. Maybe some natural gas.

(My take on NG: persistent supply/demand imbalance, plus final hurrah for USD as safe haven triggering short term oil correction , may produce a final washout in NG. Even more attractive are international oil drillers and commodity itself.)

  • Fertilizer Manufacturers Face an Uphill Battle [View article]
One more thought. Just as many don't realize global warming is still being debated in the scientific community (cause the liberal media won't tell them), if after they prove it's wrong many will then complain it is some right-wing conspiracy and the biased liberal media will feed that propaganda as well.

    To Mad Hedge Fund Trader,
Was that a serious post? Global warming (Al Gore style) leading to rising sea levels flooding out vast acreage. I suspect you're serious. I'll take this as food for intellectual thought. I've read your blog and you don't sound like a loon.

What is more disturbing is when our politicians take this highly controversial issue, which many, many experts refute with very credible evidence, and pass laws which will cripple our industry with added costs before the scientific debate is properly resolved. And since China and India will not comply, we will be at a competitive disadvantage. I read this weekend about coming EPA changes. After we do the financial damage to ourselves, how do we undo it if we later confirm the skeptics were right? I don't think you can unring that bell. We are going in a very dangerous direction.

  • Time to Buy and Hold for Reflation: Four Promising Sectors  [View article]
Coal stocks were one of my primary interests until I heard this quote from Obama:

Obama said "his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket "

If you've seen the damage done to drug stocks and health insurers just on the threat of pending legislation, hard to imagine what he might do to the coal industry. I saw live footage of him talking about coal. He said he wouldn't ban it's use, but would tax it to bankrupt anyone who tried. I was shocked. We get half our electricity energy from coal. Not only would it damage the coal industry, utility rates would also go higher.

Trying to outguess the radical changes being proposed is a game I don't want to play.
