  • Sotherly Hotels: This Undiscovered Gem Can Invest At A 16% Cap Rate In A 9% Market [View article]
I am a very long term holder. The company stems from a family owned business going back 50 years or so. The second generation of the company now comprises management. The CEO is the largest shareholder, and collectively the Sims family has a significant equity ownership.

  • L.B. Foster Company: Shareholder Friendly But Great Uncertainty [View article]
Totally agree with your analysis. I own a few shares of this company but would like to buy considerably more given the fundamentals, but am extremely wary of the UPRR warranty claim as well. Had the unfortunate experience of a holding declaring bankruptcy due to an unforseen warranty claim. The hidden surprise in the fundamentals is the newly acquired Portec Rail. I was a long term holder, and the general consensus is that FSTR got it dirt cheap. The company had made some very bullish long term earnings forecasts prior to the acquisition, based in large measure on prospects in China.
