Are we on the same site? SA is full of authors claiming that "stock XYT rose 50% after I recommended it last year" (while conveniently omitting their wrong calls). Sorry, just being cynical.

Just a short note here would be fine ;)

I make no comment on this specific instance but i disagree on principle ; many people work for motivation other than money. The number may be in the minority but they do exist!

I don't think you're understanding his point Bret, like you seemed to misunderstand my point above...

Your strategy to reduce volatility in AAPL is simply to....own less AAPL. So how is that different to investing 20% in AAPL and the 80% in any other stocks of your choice? (compared to being 100% invested in QQQ)

In fact, I could do even better and reduce volatility even more by investing 20% AAPL and 80% in non-tech sector stocks...that serves your stated purpose "the goal is to reduce volatility, while still being able to ride AAPL higher." while decreasing exposure and hence volatility to the tech sector...

As an author it would benefit you also to be less hostile to your readers, even if you disagree vehemently...

um...do you own apple if you hold QQQ....

OR you could simply invest 20% into apple and the remaining 80% into any securities of your choice...
