  • Cramer's Mad Money - Unsafe at Any Yield (3/12/09) [View article]
It is irresponsible to simply repeat a quote that "the banks are profitable". What does this mean? Profits before write-offs, profits before increasing loan loss reaserves for credit card defaults and commercial loan defaults?

  • 10 Signs of a Recession [View article]
One of the most important aspects of the American economy is our financial system, an essential part of capitalism. Raise interest rates and the money center banks and I-banks will become technically insolvent. We are between a rock and a hard place. Not one politican has mentioned sacrifice, conservation or a Marshall Plan to develop alternative fuels (somehow anathema to neocons). Obama is an unlnown risk and McCain is wedded to the past. High fuel costs are here to stay and we need to adapt. Capital preservation is paramount. Newt is both educated and dangerous.
