Einhorn's Greenlight Wins Injunction Against Apple, Making A March Dividend Increase More Probable [View article]
He knew he could win because what Apple did was in poor taste and technically improper.
You can state Einhorn only filed the lawsuit for self-promotion, but the more interesting question is why did Apple bundle the proposals? Self-preservation? No self-respect? Mere incompetence? Abuse of power?
I think this is just another error made by a management that has grown lazy. It is probably the same reason I cannot get an Ipad mini with an HD/retina display, and why the newest iPhone doesn't have as good of a mapping program as the original model, or any subsequent one up until iOS 6.
Apple's Margins Are The Key To This Quarter And Beyond [View article]
Apple's own estimates have their margins declining by 18% in the last yea, to 36% for the last quarter. In 5 years, that margin will become under 10%. In that time, their market will need to triple for earnings to stay the same or quadruple for there to be growth.

Who, margins improve only so long as price stays the same. In other words, margins improve when a company begins to fleece the customers.
Apple and its competition have already become quite close. Samsung and Apple are the two luxury lines. So, to your point, comparing Audi and Renault is irrelevant. A better question would be can Audi maintain much higher margins than BMW, or must those substantially similar products maintain substantially similar margins?
A Cheaper iPhone Would Confirm A Lack Of Innovation And Declining Margins At Apple [View article]
this product matrix has nothing to do with innovation. That has to do with re-hashing old ideas into new wrappers. And yes, maybe apple should sell more expensive phones, but that is not innovation either. Innovation means an improved product, not a substantially similar one with no real changes. There is nothing new about an ipad mini..it is just a copy of an ipad, sized to a size that their competitors proved consumers want. That is copying, and the very opposite of innovation.
A Cheaper iPhone Would Confirm A Lack Of Innovation And Declining Margins At Apple [View article]
It is not a question of product quality or even product adoption...it is a question of product margins and company evaluations. I do believe that Apple will grow its market, but tit will also end up making far less profit per device and that in the end, though the estimates for future growth may be accurate, the estimates for future margins are too high. That means forward profit estimates must come down. This is an inevitability in technology and Apple promoters that think Apple is different are sorely mistaken. There is simply no way that smartphones of any model or make will be so expensive in five to ten years, and estimates that presume they will are an example of analyst BS.
Apple's Future Plans May Necessitate A Switch From Intel To ARM Chips [View article]
bvrabete, I am pretty sure that intel's chips for Macs would not work with Siri and that this has been disclosed. Even if the cloud servers that do the back-end work for Siri are intel, that is pretty irrelevant since those processors are completely different than a P.C. chip and only do half the work. Siri's cloud server has to interact with the local device, which has to do some thinking and that is where Intel's P.C. chips have a problem. You are using misdirection by pointing to a slightly related non-issue in order to argue that there is no issue, but there is.

notwithstanding the use of intel products in some phones, it is certainly the case that intel has not been performing well in the smartphone market, especially among growth models and makers.
I do not believe it is running iOS or Android, is it?
Apple Investors Should Be Wary Of The Next Shoe To Drop [View article]
According to these apple bulls, that means I should probably hire you or invest in you, or perhaps your two wives. But then again, maybe all three of you are not qualified do design the next iOS and are completely irrelevant to apple's management shake-up, which is tantamount to firing the architect and letting the interior designer take the lead in building an addition to your house.
I wonder if there was some reason Jobs kept Forstall around despite the fact seemingly everyone else there hated him. Maybe there was a reason. Maybe it wasn't just whimsy. Maybe the guy was essential to the process, no matter what the suits thought. Maybe it is difficult to innovate operating systems, and no matter how much credit you give to the style, the substance has to be there too.
Apple Investors Should Be Wary Of The Next Shoe To Drop [View article]
50% of the country does not get divorced..that is just a myth...and even if they did, that does not mean that you should invest in people that make as poor decisions as those people, simply because there are so many of them.
Forstall was a mistake? He somehow survived at apple for about 15 years and got touted as one of the main architects of OS X and iOS. We should all make such mistakes.

Also, even if it were true that 50% of marriages end in divorce, what does that have to do with anything here? I don't care if some toothless hick cannot find happiness with his cousin, and I'm not going to invest any money in either of them anyway. Arguing that Tim Cook is only making as bad of decisions as the bottom half of married couples inspires no confidence here.

He showed true leadership in getting rid of them? Okay. And how about in hiring Browett, who hadn't even been interviewed by some of the board members. Was that true leadership? This is the same type of true leadership we see out of HPQ.

Quite the bad apple. All he did was help develop OS X and iOS. He was one of the few good apples that made Apple's resurgence and dominance happen. The loss of innovators and their replacement with middle management suck ups is not a good sign.
I hope Google appoints Forstall to work on Android in a week or two, just like Oracle did when HP dumped its superstar CEO.
And no matter how you slice it, Browett proves incompetence at Apple's highest levels. It was either a huge mistake to hire him or a huge mistake to fire him. Either way, his brief time on the stage proves this management is not making smart long-term decisions.

It is pretty disingenuous to say someone is wrong once you include an optional pay service, when the point was that what they give for free is not ample. The absurdity of this is multiplied by your misguided belief that it is someone other than yourself that is misrepresenting facts.
For your future education, an optional service that costs $25 bucks is not what they give you for free. That is what they give you for $25 bucks.
