Excellent and interesting article. Although the market doesn't expect any of those things to happen, you never know. Aapl is a very secretive company and although a stock split may seem more probable, we may as well be predicting the winner of the superbowl. I believe ultimately, aapl will do what is in its best interest over the long term...regardless of what we say. I also believe that short term movements like we have seen are manufactured by Hedge Funds and option players for their benefit in the short run. That's why I'm in Buy and Hold mode on this one. BTW, stood behind that sign at Katahdin a number of times in years gone by. Great shot...and drove my Austin Healey 3000 to get there.:>)
I just have no confidence that Microsoft can execute. Even if Surface would be prime to gain market share, management will figure out a way to screw it up....
Good article but I believe the market will immediately anticipate a better economy, earnings, business friendliness, new tax policy making American companies more competitive and rally. I think the massive sideline money will come into the market. I don't see a short term dip. But, what do I know??

I know the diversification theory...tried it early on...some winners, some losers. Decided to put all my eggs in one basket a couple years ago based on fundamental and market analysis. Now I just "watch the basket"...has worked out quite well, thank you. Besides Apple, I day/swing trade stocks/options in my smaller trading account and that worked out because you cash up most every night. Helps pay the bills. With my knowledge of Apple, helps with option trades--put spreads, call spreads, directional bets, etc.

Thank you for your analysis. I believe it to be right-on. Since Aapl is the only stock I own, I read every article about it....positive or negative...except for the acknowledged "haters" who bloviate on this site on occasion. As a reader you have to make an evaluation of articles that are objectively written with solid analysis behind them and those that aren't. I will definitely follow your articles going forward, and congrats on your success.
"What we’re working on now feels like the most important and the best work we’ve done," newly knighted Apple (AAPL) design chief Jony Ive cryptically tellsThe Telegraph. I believe Jony Ive is the reason why Aapl will continue to succeed and innovate without Jobs. He, you may recall from the bio, was the guy who Jobs made a huge effort to recruit early on because of his engineering prowess. We also know Jobs was not an engineer, but a great Sales guy and, yes visionary, who mercilessly pushed Ive and his team to develop new stuff; but, I believe Ive played a large role in original design and development...I believe he is equivalently as important as Tim Cook, who I believe is proving to be an outstanding CEO. That's why I'm very long Aapl..
You'll notice that the "Haters" never talk about valuation, discounted cash flow, growth, or anything else "fundamental". It's always technical. It's only since Cramer saw the light proposed initially by Pete Najarian that the rest of the crew begrudgingly mentions value on occasion.
No, sorry, don't agree. Aapl was undervalued before the drop and will continue to be undervalued until it's not. Doesn't anyone do fundamental analysis anymore? Isn't the objective of anyone who has studied Graham and Dodd (Buffet did and later Peter Lynch (we graduated from the same school the same year--but he's done better than I have) to buy low (value) and sell high.
Apple (AAPL -1.6%) is underperforming today on above-average volume. The Fair Labor Association's discovery of "non-compliances" at Foxconn's Chinese facilities, together with Apple and Foxconn's agreement to address the issues via new hiring and other measures, could have investors worried Apple will see higher manufacturing costs and lower margins. Great web site and agree with your philosophy. I have to learn more about selling options...your win-win sounds like a win.
