"Quality is Job #1" Slogan is Key to Ford's Comeback Strategy

I hope that Chrysler, Ford, and GM do make it back as a force in the auto industry but none will have my patronage. In my time I bought as new: 1 Chrysler, 1 Ford and 3 GM vehicles. None were built as new. Parts were missing, malfunctions with the engines and electrical systems that were never fixed.

In 1989(?) Ford came out a TV ad stating (not verbatum) that Ford knew their vehicles had not been made with quality but that quality was to be increased 40%. About 3 months ago an article appeared (from an officer of Ford) that (again not verbatum) Ford realized their vehicles had not been made with quality but that was going to change. The same message 20 yrs. apart. Cutting expenses and government intervention will not help the 'Big 3'. They must build a quality vehicle. Until then I and many others will continue to drive 'foreign' which ARE new.
