  • How Apple's Siri Could Put A Major Dent In Google's Core Search Business [View article]
Yes, they're coming after Google. And, of course, Google is just standing around hands in pocket. For me the clock tics continue to the end of my cell contract and I buy an unlocked Moto X woody and can begin my personal era of "OK, Google Now......"

  • Google Fiber: An Optical Illusion [View article]
That redlining and cherry picking are going on is obvious and well understood by the cities involved. Looking at the KCs, Google has brought high speed Internet to the community's under served or impoverished in a way that avoids wiring neighborhoods that can't
    or won't support it.

It's the future come calling, and the cities and the people want it bad.

  • Google Fiber: An Optical Illusion [View article]
Just saying that Google recently announced a jump beyond the KCs to Olathe, KS, a wealthy suburb of Johnson County, one of the wealthiest counties in the US. Seems to me the strategy Google employs is one that combines altruism and profit opportunity while building future demand for their services. And, keeping capital outlays for infrastructure under control. Perhaps they do know something more than others.

One very big difference in Google's strategy, they predetermine the subscriber interest and virtually sign them up before wiring up a neighborhood. I myself am on record as a future buyer of the service should Google build out to my suburb.

Unlike a cable vendor contracting with a city to provide blanket service, Google actually only wires a neighborhood it knows it will profit from the git go. Pretty clever I'd say!

  • A Long-Term Look At Inflation [View article]
I've seen estimates that CPI could range as high as 3% for 2013. I'm also in the camp that believes CPI is understated. The Dept. of Ag estimates food inflation to be 3 to 4% for 2013. Energy? Let's wait for the EPA to act and then estimate. Bottom line: Double digit inflation in 2013! Anyone notice the price increases by business due to Obamacare? Taxation, healthcare, and bad fiscal and monetary policies have been and will continue to cause boomerang DNA laden arrows to be fired that land squarely back into our own chests.

By the way, billion prices doesn't include services. Healthcare is one service that comes to mind. How about a billion and one prices for instance?

  • Google Now: Trading Your Privacy For The Future [View article]
That bit about Google Now will have me reaching for my device because it has an idea somehow rings true to me. Willing or unwilling, I surrender my privacy. Getting something useful and beneficial that's targeted to me individually has me thinking, "I want".

My absolute favorite WB play: Bank of America preferred to the tune of $300 million cash annually to Berk. Federal tax rate : 10.5%. How? 70% off when corps buy other corps preferred. 35% corporate tax rate x 30% = 10.5%! Wow WB, wow!

  • Euro-Denominated ETFs May Recoil Rather Than Spring Forward [View article]
The condition that needs to be agreed to prior to ECB unlimited bond buying is tantamount to surrendering economic sovereignty, I believe. Angela M would likely take the deal. She has already in theory.

Bought the NookHD and added a 32gig microSD card. Love it. Love the 7 inch lightweight form factor. Love viewing my precious to me home generated video I've created. Love the beautiful screen.

But I especially love that the Nook is the only tablet on the market that comes loaded with its own premium coffee shop and ambiance that only lovers of bookshops can understand. Go BN!

  • Is QE3 Working? [View article]
Would you draw your same conclusion if you were to factor in Japan's export driven economy and domestic vs foreign ownership of their debt? I'm suggesting that substantive factors not applicable to the US may be behind your perceived QE success in Japan.

  • Christmas In Athens: You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch [View article]
My take: the election was clarifying. We've unequivocally told the World we will not pay back our debts, debased dollars perhaps. We have married moral and fiscal bankruptcy with De Tocquivillian (sp?) mob rule. The worst amongst us now chooses the worst among them to be our leaders. We have economic imbeciles and Marxist destroyers going forward. There is now little to no hope for reversal and renewal.

With the Fed at currently 85 billion per month in twist and QE through December, what do you think happens in January? Oh, yeah fiscal cliff and the delusional Obamacare. Some may wish we were Greece.
