  • President Obama has reportedly rejected an offer from John Boehner to increase taxes for those earning over $1M a year in exchange for major cuts in entitlement programs. It's a major concession by the Republicans in the protracted talks over a deal to avert the fiscal cliff, but Obama wants to raise taxes on those earning over $250K, while Democrats oppose key GOP proposals for reducing entitlements. [View news story]
If Obama will get his wish it is not going to close the gap of current deficit or the $17 Trillion deficit already on the books, not even half of it so , can he explain to me how and when he is going to do it?

  • Next up from Apple (AAPL -0.8%): An updated regular iPad (Apple calls it 4th-gen). The device features an A6X processor (2x as fast as A5X), faster Wi-Fi, a Lightning connector, similar battery life, and unchanged pricing. And the iPad Mini: it sports a 7.9" display (as expected), is 7.2mm thick (23% thinner than regular iPad), and weighs just 0.68 lbs. Apple also announced a revamped iBooks app - the education market clearly figures prominently here. (live blog, webcast - available on Safari) [View news story]
With no major price reduction of the new i-Pad unless we see good numbers tomorrow apple price will continue to slide down.

  • This won't help get rid of those iPhone 5 shortages: China Labor Watch claims 3K-4K Foxconn workers at a plant in the city of Zhengzhou went on strike this afternoon, protesting over a lack of quality control training needed to meet the iPhone 5's (AAPL -2.1%) exceptional requirements, and demands to work during a holiday. Multiple iPhone 5 production lines were reportedly put into a "state of paralysis." Two weeks ago, Foxconn had to shut down another Chinese plant due to a riot. Update: Foxconn denies a strike occurred, and claims production remains on schedule. [View news story]
Yes, Apple should have more plants in different countries with more capacity to produce in case other plant shut down.

  • The most interesting part of a George Soros treatise on the EU crisis is its brief preamble in which the author says the world has changed since he penned the essay. Merkel's siding with Draghi over the Bundesbank's Weidmann on the subject of bond purchases was a "game-changing event," writes Soros. Taking full advantage, Draghi has "promised unlimited purchases" of troubled nations' sovereign debt. "The continued survival of the euro is assured." [View news story]
Promise to unlimited bonds purchases first has to happened, second,
keeping adding debts with no ability to pay it back just delay the bankruptcy.

The writing is on the wall, Greece first follow by Spain and Italy will go
