If the US adopts European safety regulations and ALL European cars are introduced into the US market won't that exacerbate the Big 3's woes by adding to the lineup of their competitors? Fiat, Citroen, Lotus, etc ad nauseum
Profiting from Obama's Infrastructure Plans [View article]
Thanks Rodney, It's obvious when you are thinking Infrastructure you are thinking bridges and buildings, but what are your thoughts on next gen power grid? What are your thoughts on TRR?
Who Will Lead the Infrastructure 2.0 Boom? [View article]
I like what you are saying long term, But looks like short term there could be a temporary drop in sales with people picking up liquidated networking equipment on the cheap.
Cmon Jonathan Schwartz, time to pull the Rabbit out of the hat. I keep hoping that the Video over IP revolution will use Suns big Iron, but we shall see...
The WiMax Deal Is a Disaster: How Google Got Snookered [View article]
Thanks for the info, This article has motivated me to take a position with regards to WIMAX and if this is the best arguments against the tech then the prospects are good. The POTENTIAL is HUGE, even if all it does is provide last mile access to far flung neighborhoods and basic data connectivity to vending machines, medical instruments etc it sounds like we have a moneymaker on our hands. In addition the very idea of an open network is enticing because they can end up being used in ways that are completely unforeseen and profitable as well.
Cost of Living Extremely Well Rises Twice As Quickly As CPI [View article]
Could it be that there is some CPI multiplier at work to then generate the CLEWI. Seeing as how it takes many of the common mans working hours to make/manufacture/servi... these products. Is it a geometrical or inverse square relationship? I think this observation is hilarious, why you ask because I FEEL their pain, DEEPLY.
I think that "Breaking of their pattern of selling “uniform” clothing " Is not the way to go. If they could maintain this uniform cashflow while "offering a wider and more diverse product mix" would be the way to go. If they could offer one-off or modded up Individualized clothes that build on the existing products. (I'm talking embroidered pockets on the jeans, screen printed shirts, same as the existing styles but with a little something something that makes it more unique, you know for the kids...) The problem I have seen with Gap is that their clothes suck in that they are waaay overpriced, get real your jeans are garbage when compared to Mavi, Levi or Guess, but they know how to make the patterns right. Where is the hook to get you in the store? What do they do better than anybody else? I am drawing a blank.
US Savings Rate Based On Outdated Methods of Calculation [View article]
Capital gains from stocks seems like a weak leg of that argument. Assuming that "The richest 10 percent own 85 percent of all stock" The top 10% are reaping 85% of the benefits of owning stock. How many Joe sixpacks own stocks, let alone do so profitably. On the whole though I thank the author for opening the door on an issue I think needs further development.
