MS Engineering - Stanford with over 30 years experience in communications networks. Moderate politically. Don't regard either the war in Afghanistan or the war in Iraq as justified nor do I believe that they are making the U.S. safer from terrorism. Having more effective security on our borders and transit hubs (airports, harbors, truck inspection stations, etc.). We need to get serious about alternative sources of energy because oil is getting much more difficult to find and pump out of the ground. We're in a very dangerous period economically and politically. This country is more polarized than it was during the '60s. Further shrinkage of the middle class and the increasing gap between the rich and the poor are dramatic warnings that we might be in THE Great Depression pushing the '30s down to second place. Real unemployment is about 17%. At any time a movement could start to replace the US dollar as the de facto world currency by denominating oil in another currency. The only thing that is preventing this now is the large holdings of $US by other countries and many are moving towards becoming less dependent on it.
