    Very good article, but do note that before the smartphone era, Nokia was renowned for it's supply chain management and platform approach, allowing parts commonality amongst phones, thus smoothing the aggregate supply needs: many phone variants but all based on three main platforms. One of the reasons Motorola came a cropper trying to chase the market lead with an (expensive) Razr was that their supply chain combined with too many platforms wasn't a match for Nokia's approach

  • Ericsson (ERIC) is seeing strong uptake for its AIR systems, which combine a base station's antenna and radio into a single tower-mounted product. The company recently claimed shipments of AIR units, which can improve coverage while lowering installation times and power consumption, totaled 2K/week.     Another good reason to indicate why Ericsson have been working so hard in standards bodies to prevent small cell architectures such as Iuh being used for metrocells and linking in to the macro network
