  • More on Facebook: Though a recent Reuters survey indicated many U.S. users are reducing their Facebook time, comScore estimates U.S. Facebook users spent 379 minutes/month on the site in April, up from 364 in September. Nielsen, meanwhile, believes Facebook accounted for 18% of all U.S. Web usage in April, more than twice as much time as was spent on Google (GOOG) and YouTube combined. One caveat about comScore: it just co-authored a study with Facebook. (previous)  [View news story]

  • More on JMP's Facebook upgrade: Mark Harding's $37 PT values Facebook (FB +0.7%) at 54x his 2013 EPS esimate. He predicts Facebook's share of the display ad market will grow to 22% in 2015 from 11% in 2011, and that the market itself will increase rapidly as more offline ad spending moves to the Web. Harding also notes daily engagement rates for Facebook users have been rising across geographies. A recent Reuters survey suggests U.S. engagement may be peaking.  [View news story]

  • Europe should be "realistic," devalue its currency and accept painful reforms so it can emerge from this crisis stronger, says Bank of Thailand Governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul. Thailand experienced this firsthand, shrinking 10.5% in '98 after setting off the Asian financial crisis, before undertaking radical changes and pulling back to average growth of 4% from 2000-2009.  [View news story]
Can someone explain how Europe could devalue its currency (serious question)?

  • A Greek exit and 50% devaluation of the new drachma would cost Germany and France a combined €155B at most, calculates Eric Dor, a very large rounding error to Western central banks these days. The real danger, of course, is contagion and the link to €15T in private and public debt in the periphery (and France), and €27T in EU banking assets.  [View news story]

AAPL stock has become a typical Apple consumer product: expensive, fashionable, bought blindly by millions of fanboys who do not tolerate criticisms. Does anyone know the % of float held by individuals on AAPL? If it's high, I'd say AAPL is a strong buy given the track record of other Apple consumer products.

  • Zynga (ZNGA) +2% premarket on a NY Post story suggesting the company is in talks with Wynn Resorts (WYNN) about a possible online gambling partnership. ZNGA, which sees huge revenue potential in moving to real wagering, needs to form partnerships with casino operators in a number of states if it is to cash in on an expected boom in internet gambling.  [View news story]
