Actually every large bank in the world did come to uncle sam, even if indirectly. They were all insolvent. We kept them afloat because we needed to get our own ship righted. Of course it wasn't news or well known or done with loans in the traditional sense. The world was on the verge of a huge depression and we prevented it (but you could also say we caused it).

  • GT Advanced Technologies: Business Update Postponed [View article]
    3 thoughts:
    1. they are very close to a deal or deals but haven't quite finalized them.
    2. they need a little more time to look at the financials, the quarter closed on Wednesday I believe
    3. TG & all his friends have to get their stock vested and then sold so folks can scream & yell & call them names

While at the GTAT listen to the Canaccord conference; read the Casual Analyst series on the company on SA and several other fine articles, go to MIT Technology Review and read how GTAT is planning to customize Hyperion for its various commercial tasks (although it is currently available for brain cancer treatment/research.

Yes TGI you are missing the hysteria & the herd mentality of those comments. Also you need to be more emotional & angry

Actually shopno that was me except I never compared TG to Musk. I commented on a very negative article about Tesla that 1 year later turned out to 100% wrong and if investors took that advice missed out on the opportunity to see their shares increased by $70-$100. My points in that comment was 1. No one vilified the article's author even though he was very, very, very wrong. Unlike the vilification of Matt M (see above) & 2.
let us see what the stock sells for a year from now to see who is correct.

Obviously these points were too difficult for you to understand although you seem to have a basic grasp of the English language. the only reason that article came to my attention is that someone recently commented on it pointing out its being completely wrong. As one of the 491 comments on that article I was notified by SA. Most of those commenting supported the author's supposition that tesla wasn't worth its share price of $180, that a more realistic price was in the mid 50's. My comment was in support of Tesla.

There was no comparison of Musk to TG except by someone commenting who, like yourself, chose to see something that wasn't there and say something unsupported by the actual comment. The price in the article & my comment was $180 not $115. And I did say that I hoped GTAT would be worth more a year from now (I am long after all) but I never used the words "perform just like TSLA". My original comment on the tesla article
can be found just like my comment on GTAT which you chose to mangle.

And for the record TG still has a large stake in GTAT even though he sold some shares. I am sorry that facts seem to get in the way of your narrative. I have only been invested in GTAT for 6 years accompanying its climb from just below $5 to above $16 and then its fall to the $3 level and its more recent ascent. I listen or read all of its CC and its participation in events like Canaccord & other special events. If that is "emotional" so be it but I consider it DD. I have never put positive or negative adjectives in front of the initials TG although I see you do. Rather emotional isn't it?

the pictured end station is only a research model, the real thing will look vastly different to quote (Badly) TG at the Canaccord conference in mid august. TG's 34 minute presentation is available on GTAT's website

I have seen your other posts and I don't want to be disagreeable but what was lacking was when shares were acquired and if it was those same shares that were sold. That was exactly what happened in early September - shares were acquired & sold that same day; at least this is what was reported on another recent SA article. This distinction makes a difference to me. Similar acquisitions & sales have been reported at other times in other articles, not just by TG but other GTAT officers also.

The other issue I am sensitive to is at this time of life you are frequently confronted by several issues: the care of aged parents, the health of your spouse or yourself, helping your children get on their own either through business endeavors or housing assistance or even for some (not me) the acquisition of retirement property. Of course I don't know of any issues TG is facing & I'd greatly wish he wouldn't be selling but really how many shares of your own company does one need to own & I believe he still owns a substantial amount.

I'm happy to agree to disagree on this. be well

  • GT Advanced Technologies And InvenSense Are Prepping For Tremendous Sales Growth Over The Next 12 Months [View article]
I doubt we would get a webcast until the quarter officially ends which I assume will be Wednesday.

On their last webcast that wasn't a CC (introducing merlin and talking about hyperion) in March the company fielded questions. Perhaps they might on this occasion also.

I think you are on to something JD although I suspect the timeframe will be a bit longer although a year or 2 sounds great to me.

another SA article pointed out that the stocks were acquired on 9/6 (when they vested) & were sold that same day. It is possible that the sale was planned prior to Apple announcing the 9/9 date. GTAT has a long history of some of its compensation being earned as incentive by rewarding individuals with stock. I realize it doesn't look good in this instance.

maybe he is because I believe some of those shares were sold at $3 or so. However TG & a few others seem to sell as soon as the shares they have earned vest. He still has a large amount of shares, it seems it is just the newly acquired shares that are sold. If you know differently feel free to share. Basicly it appears to be part of his compensation. I worry more about what institutions are doing than one guy in my age range.

the selling I have seen in the past few years is stock that becomes vested and is then immediately sold whether at $17/sh or $3/sh. It is part of their compensation. Just like in the chart Chris included. Of more concern to me would be if an officer was selling huge quantities of stock they had held for a significant period of time or if institutions were selling an excessive amount of stock. Of course I'd prefer all GTAT employees to never sell but that is rather foolish & self serving.
