  • Hyperion: A Game-Changer For GT Advanced Technologies? [View article]
Since you mentioned hyperion in regards to the solar industry I am surprised you didn't also mention merlin. Again it is less waste, less expensive materials (silver in this instance) and this process also results in a more efficient solar panel.
    Well written article.

actually he might save many people from some foolish investing. Maybe I am the anomaly but I have learned some valuable lessons but at the cost of losing some money I really couldn't afford to lose. I'm significantly up now but still prone to more mistakes.

  • Galena Biopharma, Inc. EPS of -$0.46 [View news story]
Do you really know of a SEC investigation or are you just parroting the talking points of those shorting the stock (who say there should be an SEC investigation)
If such an investigation were to occur we might not learn of it for months or perhaps never because nothing substantive was discovered. If you bothered to read the transcript you would have noticed that the appointment of the former securities enforcement officer to the BOD seemed to be in response to the law suits that have been filed and yes I think his addition is good news because the company has been lax in several areas that could & should be tightened up.

In addition to Bill's reply Tom answered the question by first stating he thought the question was valid & I thought his tone of voice very sincere in that regard and that he welcomed the question.

quite the list haschultz. Hope you listened to Friday's webcast as it took several of your listed items off the board while rolling out new products. I doubt Apple wouldn't have done the deal with GTAT without testing the laminate sapphire screens so that was never on my list. Still it was good to hear the comments about the laminate process.
My real point however is that GTAT is cutting edge, that is they are introducing new products, new technology into the market and they have been doing this with extensive consultation with the folks who have been their best customers. And it does seem that as they introduce new products they really don't have serious competition such as merlin or hyperion.
I don't mean to discount your list of concerns, I just mean to balance it with the innovations GTAT is bringing to market, both those that were recently introduced & those just bubbling below the surface

  • Solar Charging Would Significantly Augment Mobile Device Battery Power [View article]
A bit off subject but during the GTAT conference call friday they were asked (in regard to merlin which they were unveiling) that if this would be applicable to putting solar receptors on cars, perhaps the question was as part of the hood & roof of a car. Tom's (the CEO) first response was they don't pursue niche markets but then he warmed to the subject & spoke in an affirmative manner as to that possibility. I'm speaking from memory but it will be on the transcript which I assume they released. Merlin is a variation of the structure of the solar cell panel which GTAT is commercializing & customer response has been very, very positive. Basicly it replaces the 3 solid bars which cross the panel making the panel .7% more efficient, lighter, more flexible, more durable, more affordable.

seeking alpha probably provided the list but whoever did it the list is incomplete. Of course we don't know the definition contained in the senate legislation which could limit participation.

Enron paid power companies to not produce power resulting in brownouts and sky rocketing prices. And they did this repeatedly & bragged about it and laughed at the absolute mess they falsely created. I agree it is not a very good analogy.

actually there is nothing in the article that implicates GALE as editing the content of an article. Nor is there any proof offered that GALE & CYTR paid for "hundreds of pieces". The author spoke with some specificity of how many articles CYTR "sponsored" that is 13 articles were removed from various web sites. Previous allegations were that 2 articles pumping GALE were removed from seeking alpha.
Of more importance to me is did either company provide information that was false or misleading? did either company direct a writer what he or she was to write about?

Of course this article is troubling but hopefully in the end it will be about the efficacy of the various drugs these companies have in trials. I guess we could all rise up in righteous indignation (and to some extent we probably should) but in the end if this saves a loved one from dying from cancer . . . well let's just say righteous indignation doesn't cure cancer or really cure anything

  • GT Advanced Technologies Has 50% Upside [View article]
decent analysis on how the world looks today but perhaps you should have waited for friday's conference call before predicting how the world will look tomorrow. I expect looking a few years out you might be under estimating the potential of this company. The thing about introducing disruptive technologies into the market there really is no way of valuing that technology even a few years into the future (of course this is predicated on the technology truly being disruptive).

  • GT Advanced Technologies: Is There More To It Than Just Apple? [View article]
Like dumpsterd said this company isn't just about sapphire and the possibility exists that they will announce very exciting opportunities in other fields. This will likely include a massive increase in solar panel efficiency using GTAT's propriety products. The call Friday isn't about Apple but the other aspects of GTAT's business they have been developing (and acquiring). Having had a position in GTAT for the past 6 years this could be very exciting times

  • Galena faces the obligatory lawsuits [View news story]
have you followed this stock for the past year? If you had you just might be slightly aware of the company (& its pipeline) GALE recently acquired; its starting the sale of Abstral (beating analyst predictions in its 1st qtr) during that same timeline; having a drug in a phase 3 trial; other drugs in other ph 1,2 trials, analyst BUY recommendations and est share price they have put on GALE during that timeframe. And not one negative word about the science of what GALE is doing; just rumor & innuendo like throwing mud on a wall & seeing what might stick long enough so they can profit on their short position. But thankyou for telling me to wise up
