  • Bakken Update: HK Misses But Reports Record Initial Production Rates [View article]
Willie: NOG has prettty much been left for dead as far as write-ups go. I may be mistaken, but I don't think Michael has written about it in close to a year, which is ok, as there are plenty of others to study and there are only 24 hours in a day. As he mentioned last year, NOG seems to be generally misunderstood.

  • The Bank of Nova Scotia: Yearly Checkup [View article]
I, too, was intrigued by BNS' Colombia footprint. Several of Colombia's major cities are in the process of shedding their old cartel reputations and gaining considerable respect among the world's financial markets. In fact the financial district and skyline of Cartagena are an amazing sight! I also like the steady, fairly safe dividend from BNS.

Alan, Off topic, I don't recall where on SA that I saw you mention BMR Biomed Realty Trust, but at the time I was glad to see you were on board with that one. (Are you still?). I've liked its 4+% dividend since learning of it from Ken Fisher a while back. Thanks for the research you provide in your comments and/or articles. Now following.

  • Marc Faber: Get Ready For Decade-Long Low Interest Rates [View article]
Agreed LT, which is why the article cogently points out investment options for dealing with the decade of low interest rates Marc Faber is predicting. Emerging market ETF's such as Maylasia EWM, etc., or local currency debt ETF's like EMLC and others serve this purpose. Lynda

  • A Mexican Silver Conclusion [View article]
Bolivian mines are highly susceptible to gov't nationalization. Perhaps CDE would like to fill the gap, should that event occur. An AG dividend, though not essential for remaining on board, would be nice for us long term AG holders.

  • Freeport-McMoRan: Why Its Acquisitions May Cause Investors To Sell [View article]
For interested bond investors, MMR Cusip 582411AF1 paying 11.87% was beaten down last week to par on the Davy Jones news, but was given a positive credit watch yesterday after the FCX acquisition. It has been a steady payer for some years now, no calls, so far so good.

Sligoo: Yes, the Vanguard you mention has been very dependable. Another ticker you might like is PCN or the other Pimco income funds. They have offered steady monthly income history for years. After all, we can't put everything into oil related... :)

  • Kodiak Is Right On Track [View article]
Biker: To your question, a number of article writers who "do not own the stock" may be either students still writing analysis papers in their MBA programs or youngish professionals who have not accumulated the capital to be investors in all the stocks they write about. And yes to both KOG and NOG. Thanks Suman for the analysis.
