Right on, Shameless Ko! This kind of garbage is now happening all the time. Just a few weeks before RIMM announced quarterly earnings (12/22), a Morgan Keegan analyst came out with a downgrade, which started a downward spiral for the stock even as the Nasdaq was going up. After another boffo earnings report, all kinds of upgrades/increased price targets began pouring in, with one house even designating Research in Motion as its 2008 stock of the year. A CNBC guest analyst gushed that within three years, RIMM would grow to 100 million subscribers!

Bottom line, it's becoming commonplace for analysts to create "buying opportunities" in advance of high profile earnings announcements. Someone in these cases is either incompetent or dishonest...somehow, I suspect the latter.
