  • Chesapeake Energy: Trimmed Fat Makes For Handsome Returns [View article]
Best thing is the the master wheeler dealer is history, and recently some of his disciples have left to rejoin the master. But...if the share price doesn't start moving up soon, ........... a lot of investors, traders and the like are going to be history also.
Actually FCX offers more potential for profit in the short and long term, and I have put my money were my mouth is. 1k CHK, vs 12.5 k of FCX. Not going to bad mouth CHK present management, but on the hand, JimBob has been around forever and has done a great job.
IF and that is for me a small if, when the ultra deep starts to come online, I think a double or triple is possible.
But for sure do your own processes to buy either stock.

  • First Solar (FSLR) -2.1% premarket as Pacific Crest downgrades to Sell and Cowen is cautious ahead of earnings. The company finds itself in a Catch-22, says Cowen - without new business capacity will need to be shut, but any new bookings are likely to be low-margin.  [View news story]
FSLR is one of the best bets on the radar, Just about everyone who post has an angle, as far as I know Pacific Crest is short FSLR , Cowen has a point, but it will all come out in the wash.
Tell me a stock that has everything all lined up with no bumps in the road. I think there may be some BS going on just ahead of earnings.

  • New Freeport Still Worth A Look [View article]
I would just like to point out that FCX management WAS running MMR , and PXP, so nothing has really changed, other than some paper shuffled around.
Black Rock was the only Representative complaining at the report where the purchase was being discussed, other than a few share holders on SA.
Like it or hate it, it's not up to you, the decision has been made, Jim Bob is getting some big bucks to make these strategic decisions.
You and I have two choices, buy or sell, only you can make that decision. I bought.
I did learn one thing tho, stop limits are beautiful, for me from day one of the purchase, yeah I might have to buy back in at a higher price, but I may also buy back in at a lower price.
I do see one good thing about this trade, PXP and MMR are drilling in good old fashioned oil fields, not this shale BS. If they do hit oil or gas it's not going to taper off in the next month or two. Let's face it, when you buy a company, your betting on the management. You could be holding HP. Count your blessings.

Short is about the only "safe" position to have. Penny stocks are not safe by definition. I ate my position in LEAPS, strong bitter aftertaste.

  • First Solar's CEO Discusses Q2 2013 Results - Earnings Call Transcript [View article]
There is an old saying, If you can not dazzle them with brilliance, the buffalo them with bull pucky.
All I want to hear is (1) they made estimates and (2) they do know how to make some press releases that lower expectations. Big Bucks and getting crap in return.
No I am not bitter, just setting on a bunch of LEAPS that I got screwed on with the recent BS with the recent dilutions. Then on top of that missing earnings, and not releasing info so some of the disappointment can be factored in before earnings release.
May be better off with a discount CEO, at least save a few pennies.

  • First Solar: Now Comes The Hard Part [View article]
This action is a kick in the teeth for current share holders. You buy stocks with the possibility of going down or going up, but you never consider getting kicked in the mouth by the management.
Does this little exercise affect management's options? No, adds to them if anything as they will find a way to adjust the options to make a profit. I guess that's the luck of the draw, blame myself for having confidence in the management of FSLR.
All these and's , if's, and but's will come back to haunt current management.

  • Though it has a right to, AIG has not terminated its deal to sell ILFC to a Chinese consortium, says CEO Bob Benmosche. "June 14 (the closing date), we have to make a decision ... Whether this deal will get done or not, we don't know." Completion of the sale is crucial, says Benmosche, to show regulators and ratings agencies the insurer is further "derisking" the business. He notes the sale would eliminate about $24B of debt from AIG's books. [View news story]
I totally agree with you, better than sending to China.

  • Carl Icahn offers kind words for Aubrey McClendon as the Chesapeake (CHK) CEO heads for the door: "Aubrey has every right to be proud of the company he has built... and the collection of assets he has assembled... the best portfolio of energy assets in the country." Not a person I would want in charge of the piggy bank, would not want to buy maps from him either.
Some seem to think AM to be so smart, I guess getting caught in that margin call shows just how smart, seems to me that if his greed just always gets the best of him, now he's lost his position as a result of stacking the "OK" "AM" board (give AM his every whim), now they are gone and so is his honor AM.
Greatest company and visionary leader my butt.

  • AIG will not join Hank Greenberg's lawsuit against the government, reports the WSJ as board members are more concerned about damage to the firm's reputation rather than the wrath of Greenberg and his lawyers. [View news story]
Greenberg has more money than God, older than the hills, and from what I understand, a dead man does not need pockets, why still grubbing for $$$.
Oh yes I forgot, Greed is good!

  • Freeport to defend itself against Indonesia tax, but "positive" about resolution [View news story]
Maybe if the Tax went to the poor that would be the right thing to do, but in Asia (Philippines, Indonesia) it is most likely to go into the pockets of the ruling class. Almost the same as in the USA. Not good as the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer.Only one thing for sure, He who has the gold makes the rules. But no biggie, The guys at FCX knows how to guide these wealth seekers in the right direction (I hope)

  • Cree Innovates Past The Competition [View article]
I have been in CREE since the mid 90s, it is still making mr money and will do so for the forseeable future. What I don't understand is why they don't market a 220V bulb. All I can buy is Chinese LED's and I am paying about $8.00 for a 15 W LED. A year ago was paying about $12.00 for a 9W, love the falling prices and higher wattage for the $$

  • Freeport Has 25% Upside [View article]
Wish the Ultra Deep Royalty Trust would start paying out, I think there could be a $5-7 boost if they ever come online.
FCX has been a buy or hold it's whole history, that tells me a little.
