  • Obama to unveil tougher climate change plan [View news story]
If the EPA regs get any more restrictive, we'll just have to stop doing everything. Of course, our political overlords will continue their lavish lifestyles.

  • The Outlook Of Greece [View article]
"Therefore, as Greeks are continuously being brain-washed and do not possess the required judgment capacity, the country will continue to be in the dark for the foreseeable future."

Just as in America, where liberals, the media, Hollywood, Silicon Valley swells and the Ivy League elitists, tell Americans that Utopia is just around the corner if we just spend (invest) a little more in more social justice. Pure propaganda, leading us to a Greek style abyss.

  • U.S. Households Under Pressure: Stagnant Incomes, Rising Basic Expenses [View article]
And, making things worse...factor in capital gains taxes due on your portfolio's appreciation. Having our dividends taxed twice is bad enough, but watching the government confiscate our gains, then piss the money away is disheartening.

  • The American Consumer Will Never Be Back [View article]
"And if you use them to pay off previously incurred debt, you're supposedly actually saving, even though you no longer have possession of the money in any way, shape or sense, nor a choice of what to spend it on."

    Not so fast...
You traded paper currency for an object, which you then "save" and use. Of course you no longer have the cash but you do have what that cash bought.

I went into debt to buy a tractor. I no longer have the cash (savings), but I can now bale more hay. Yes, my tractor is depreciating slowly but I am earning more on hay sales.

Good point, "ridiculous flaw"...I agree with you and I mentioned it in my earlier comment. You must have missed it?:

"The author does not calculate his cost basis, or taxes due on dividends and cap gains. How can you count as "yield", cashing in a portion of your original investment?

  • 'The U.S. Is Broke' [View article]
"the US can issue its own currency, so it can basically always pay for its obligations"

"basically always pay"....yes, printing new paper out of thin air to pay of old obligations. Successful game of musical chairs where players know when the music will stop and new chairs are placed just in time. Phony game, phony economics and corrupt politics.
