American equity trader for 30 + years . Management / Economics graduate Clemson University. I have worked in large corporations and small business from established companies to startups. An ardent believer in the principles of our Founding Fathers and their trust in free markets and free enterprise and their belief that the best government is the least government.
I have been investing primarily in US equities since 2008. As a Junior at University of California Santa Barbara I am studying Economics and Finance. What keeps me excited about the future is my desire to understand the hidden forces that move markets, businesses, and people.
I am currently seeking a full-time Investment Banking Analyst position starting Summer 2016.
I am a Ph.D. scientist.
I have spent more than 20 years in methods validation in chemical and life sciences analysis. I also developed analytic methods in life sciences when I discovered that finance sciences (that belong to “inaccurate” Human and Social Living Sciences (HSLS)) are true (non-physical) living organisms (NPLO) whose living behavior can be accurately measured.
Like all physical living organisms (PLO) (microorganisms, plants & animals) NPLO should have a project and therefore a program for their life. But NPLO haven't any own genome since they haven't any physical body. Therefore their program depends mainly on a delocalized genome located in their corresponding human PLO.
Accurate graphic analysis of some NPLO are now possible.
Using our new developed Entropic Trend Indicators (ETI) system some NPLO (very rich in data) can be analyzed with an extreme accuracy and can deliver a new information that is not available otherwise. In our system NPLO delocalized genome was simply found in graphic trend. And its analysis is mathematically very accurate and simple, like Nature rules …. “But not very simple”. Graphic results are translated into words (candle's names), then to language and translated into trend information for each time frame. The final trend information is obtained when all time frames are taken into account.
Our predictive method is based on entropic trend algorithms.
In the future our ETI tools will be used in very different fields like financial analysis, web access analysis and advertisement and marketing analysis, for example.
With ETI tools we can build a brand new science. We should be able to automatize the system for intraday uses and scanning mainly. One day a robot will be built with this very accurate system.
This is an enormous project and sponsors/investors are welcome. We are open to any non-exclusive participations/rights for developing these tools.
ETI basic system is described at:

Mr. Roche is the founder of Orcam Financial Group, LLC, a low fee financial services firm based in San Diego, CA as well as the founder of the popular financial website Pragmatic Capitalism (some articles from Pragmatic Capitalism get syndicated on Seeking Alpha so please see the full site if you don't want to miss articles by Mr. Roche).
Orcam Financial Group, LLC (www.orcamgroup.com) is a low fee financial services firm offering asset management, personal advisory, consulting and educational services. Pragmatic Capitalism (http://pragcap.com) was founded by Cullen Roche in the midst of the financial crisis of 2008. Mr. Roche foresaw many of the events that led up to the crisis and felt that the government was slow to react and when it did finally react, responded with the wrong medicine.
Mr. Roche's primary areas of expertise include global macro portfolio construction, quantitative risk management, monetary economics and behavioral finance. Prior to establishing his own business, Mr. Roche worked at Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management where he worked on a team overseeing $500MM+ in assets under management. Upon leaving Merrill Lynch, Mr. Roche managed a private investment partnership for 7 years generating substantial positive alpha (high risk adjusted returns) without a single negative year of returns. He has since transitioned back to retail asset management to better serve the much needed low fee retail space with sophisticated but simple asset management and financial planning services.
Mr. Roche is also a prolific writer. In addition to the daily musings on his website, he is the author of the popular book “Pragmatic Capitalism: What Every Investor Needs to Know About Money and Finance” as well as “Understanding the Modern Monetary System”, one of the top 10 all-time most downloaded research papers on the SSRN academic research network. He was named one of the “Top Wall Street Economists, Experts and Opinion Leaders” of 2011 by Wall Street Economists and was named one of the “101 Best Finance People” by Business Insider where he was described as “one of the most influential economic thinkers today.” In 2015 Mr. Roche was named one of the “40 Under 40” most influential people in finance by InvestmentNews. He is regularly cited in the Wall Street Journal, on CNBC and in the Financial Times.
Mr. Roche is a Georgetown University alumnus, growing up in the DC area and now living in Southern California with his wife Erica, troublesome collie Cal and 4 irritable laying hens. In addition to being a financial dork Cullen is an avid outdoorsman, mediocre gardener, proficient complex carbohydrate consumer (i.e., loves brownies and cake) and finisher of one of the most difficult IRONMAN races at Cabo in 2015.
I am graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. It was here that I was introduced to the concept of value investing (though not actually at West Point) and I've been dedicated to it ever since. I played basketball for West Point (Army) all 4 years while I was at the academy and am a sports junkie.
When it comes to investing, I'm certainly not a professional but I believe I can hold my own. I've always been somewhat of a contrarian and a bargain hunter so value investing has always suited my personality. I really enjoy finding undervalued companies and if I've taken the time to write about a certain stock on this website I can assure you that I truly believe in it.
I have a MBA in Healthcare Administration and Finance, a BS in Pharmacy, and a Doctorate degree in Pharmacy/Medicine. Investing in Biotechnology companies is my passion and I am also currently actively working in a teaching hospital. Also previously worked in the Pharmaceutical industry in regulatory affairs. My investment philosophy is investing in companies that you are familiar with and like to use their products and services. Because if you like it so will everyone else. Over 20 years of investment experience mostly in the healthcare.
My specialty is the hi tech sector- I work as an analyst in search engine optimization, so I have an acute understanding of some of the biggest companies in the world, all of whom use search technology in some way, shape, or form (Google, Microsoft, Apple, Twitter, Amazon, Facebook, & Yahoo).
