  • Home Depot Holders Getting Nervous  [View article]
I have been holding HD since the low 20's. I would call that an investment. Your comparison is like saying drivers don't need insurance. Calls / Puts utilized by underlying shareholders are insurance protection.

HD should not be at a level of the prior cycle high which saw a healthy housing market. It has obliviously been the recipient of a great return over the past couple months from the repurchase program. Although I am an owner of HD shares I have been buying protection over $41.

  • NY Fed chief Dudley tells a crowd at the University of Albany the risks of a double dip recession have dropped significantly (because we never left?), but that growth remains too slow to put a dent in unemployment. He believes the current run of positive economic data is more than likely a bounce from transitory factors. (Dudley yesterday)   [View news story]
I still think its a very real possibility. High oil prices, a real estate market that is still on the ropes, high unemployment, budget issues in Washington and European debt issues tells me there is more of a risk of a double dip than not. Unfortunately these issues will not be corrected over night with the same remedy of monetizing. These are the same fools that had models built saying subprime would not effect the general economy. Still a good chance!

  • Sirius XM 2.0: Game-Changer Or Another Reason To Run Away?  [View article]
I don't trade SIRI, however have had it since Stern moved to the platform. Stern's new contract of 3 days a week with reruns has chased me away. I hardly listen to it anymore and will be canceling my subscription. I am sure there are others - the platform does not offer much more than what you can find online for FREE. If I had to make a bet it is not a long term hold and only a trade.

  • Recession: Mild Or Severe?  [View article]
As long as the Euro Zone does not collapse it will be very mild. The average person feels like they never left the recession so the consumption behavior will change minimally.

As long as oil moves in tandem with the market the chop will continue.

  • Alt-A Mortgage Catastrophe - Here It Comes  [View article]
The idea that banks are now going to be properly prepared for the hidden risks that the market will encounter over the next cycle is, CRAZY! JPM, still has to take the losses from WAMU and the small loan loss reserves that were added clearly display this institution is going to come under pressure. JPM and WFC have portfolios that are on fire.
