  • Will Apple's Growth Stop In 2013? [View article]
I bumped into your comment on the way to find where I may leave some comments. I'll only discuss your last paragraph- all the Price Targets have a definite time frame, namely, for Mr. Munster it is 2014, for the gentleman from Topeca, I think it is 12 months, and similarly for other analysts( Peter Misek, etc. ). Definitely this is less than 100 years! Your mention of Amazon while discussing Apple makes me vomit! Do you know how many years Amazon has been in business? Do you know how much money Amazon has earned in so many years! Do you know how many years will it take for Amazon to earn per share to return your investment, just cost!( more than 150 years!).

somehow I get the feeling of your dream about how you should have managed your investment in HPQ. Ms. Carly did not receive proper valuation for her acquisition of Compaq and the same holds good for Mr. Apo.. who tried to steer HPQ in the software direction.

  • Apple (AAPL) gets another $1K price target, this time from the "ax" on the stock, Gene Munster, who lifts his official target from $718 to $910, but says it could reach $1K in 2014. Shares +0.8% premarket.  [View news story]
I thought Paul Santos knows things or two. You don't think so, Huh!

No, AAPL won't be $650.0 before Easter, it needs a catalyst. The earnings will be out 4/24 and that could prove to be a catalyst and you better hope that it beats the analysts' and Apple's own guidance! So by 4/23 AAPL might be at $640. So, April could see Apple's rise or ...
Probably look at Option Monster for unusual activity!

I really dig this author. By the way what is so great about diversification, why people should diversify? Is not risk rewarded? If you diversify saying that will reduce risk are not you opting for run of the mil return also. Also, all the companies operate in the same macroeconomic cauldron, face the same temperature. So, how diversification reduce risk? Oh! you will say about cyclic and secular industries, in bad times the secular industries are affected by the misfortunes of the cyclics ( just like second hand smoking ) and you miss the good returns of cyclics when situation improve.

Anyhow, reduction of risk means less returns.

  • Are Apple Shares Overvalued or Undervalued? [View article]
Obviously you are agonizing over share price of AAPL. I do not know where to start but some of the formula used in securities valuation, like P/E, Capitalization are nothing but summary of a few assumption into one convenient mathematical equation. Do you really know what you mean by "capitalization" that you are using to arrive at AAPL share price? Really, just think about it.

Now use this same Capitalization rate on AMZN, CRM, ISRG, PCLN, etc. and get some sleep.

  • The Fair Labor Association's inspection of Apple (AAPL) contract manufacturer Foxconn's facilities has turned up "tons of issues," reports Bloomberg, following a talk with FLA head Auret van Heerden. Van Heerden adds there will be "some very significant announcements in the near future" related to the FLA's findings. (earlier)  [View news story]

  • Wedge Partners' Brian Blair tells Apple (AAPL -0.4%) investors to stay on the sidelines until the company releases its FQ2 report. Blair is worried new iPad sales will miss the Street's high expectations in spite of a strong opening week, noting Apple Stores have ample supplies. Moreover, he now thinks 2012 iPad shipments will likely be at the low end of a forecast range of 56M-60M. A Chinese site recently reported Apple has slashed production of new iPads.  [View news story]
I remember the same thing when ipad2 was coming out. The company said that people were waiting for new ipad and the pent up demand resulted in sky busting sale the next quarter. But what would be the explanation this time if ipad (new ) sale really comes at the low end!

  • Apple (AAPL -1.6%) and Samsung (SSNLF.PK) have been holding talks about settling the patent war between them. It appears that AAPL may be altering its stance somewhat, as CEO Tim Cook seems less enthusiastic about waging legal wars over patents than his predecessor, Steve Jobs.  [View news story]
Well when Mr. Cook is sitting at a table to listen to Samsung chief we the bystanders could certainly wait ( but not hold breath) to see what happens. Mr. Job's complain was against parties that stole his intellectual properties, nothing else.

  • More on Nielsen's smartphone data: Though Android still has a market share edge over the iPhone, it's down from the 52%/37% split in its favor that existed from October-December. Recent comScore data suggested the iPhone's share gains were slowing down, though Canaccord's checks indicated otherwise.  [View news story]
has anybody revised the March quarter's eps based on this latest outlook on sale of Apple product? Otherwise I don't see why all these ballyhoo about ipad sales, etc.

  • Here's the fine print from the $25B foreclosure settlement the five big mortgage banks signed last month: Of the $17B banks must earmark for "assistance to borrowers," more than half can be used in ways that won't stop foreclosures, including some activities that are already standard bank practices, such as demolishing abandoned houses.  [View news story]
Who defrauded whom? If slard271 knows that the banks defrauded Americans then surely the banks don't show it, the banks are still in very miserable condition, just look at the share prices, a fraction of the book values, but then again it does not appear that slard271 knows what is book value or share price!
