I have a feeling they will skip a Sept hike and talk up a Dec hike. However, they won't give the indication of such a scenario until summer's almost over, so I think we will see increased volatility and fear as sideways action goes manic through the summer and some stay convinced that a Sept hike is imminent-even tho it isn't.

Nice catch, Rebel. I haven't looked at a chart on T in a while, as my aunt and uncle have full positions already, tho I did add under $33 for them a while back.

    Thanks for the heads up.

  • Calumet Specialty Products Partners: An 11% Yielder You Should Consider [View article]
Nice up day for CLMT today.

I'm thinking of dumping my LRE, VNR, and BBEP, and splitting it between EPD and CLMT.

Any thoughts/opinions on this from anyone out there??

I think both EPD and CLMT are trading at attractive valuations at the moment.

    (It's only a $2k account)

I would have to agree with you, Alan. Even if the Circuit City thing presented itself again (and I-magically-was only one of a few who figured out what Chris had figured out), I wouldn't do it b/c I see it as unethical.

However, that said, I do things others would probably call me out on. For example, I live in a small town, and there are A LOT of traffic lights where I'm the only one there at a 4 way stop, esp after 9pm. If I don't see anyone there or anyone coming from any direction, I treat it like a stop sign, and go about my business after a quick stop. I'm not going to waste my time waiting for no one and what amounts to, waiting for nothing, even if it is considered a violation.

Again, swinging the other direction: I make more $ than all but 1 or 2 of my coworkers, but I'm one of the only ones to collect recycled bottles and cans, take them home, and return them for $ (20 somethings complain about not having any extra $ but...). We drink A LOT of water, sodas, and energy drinks at my work, and I realized quite a while ago, that most everyone was just throwing them in the trash. With a bit of doing (and prodding), I got bins that are only used for recycles now, and leave work 5 days a week with a bag full of cans and bottles that probably nets me a few hundred dollars a year. Not much, I realize, but it pays my kids' allowances and gives my wife spending cash when she goes out with friends or wants to do some extra shopping.

    Great read, Chris-thanks.

My parents ignored money and told me it was a waste of time and energy (hippies) and divorced when I was 4. I grew up flying on planes by myself (back and forth between parents) with my brother who was a year younger.

I've only made a small fraction of what you've made, Chris, but I've learned that nothing is more valuable or satisfying (to me) than a happy marriage and a stable home life. I don't like travel or shopping (even to return things for $ back), and being at home with my wife and kids uninterrupted by the world is priceless.

Yeah...I was wondering why make a comment about-much less, RATE-obscure ones. Like the majority of these brokerages' announcements, it sounds pretty weak and hardly merits our attention imo.

I wouldn't trust the valuation of anything in China. Just trusting valuations of our own markets and stocks at these levels is hard enough imo.

  • Gilead Sciences: Approaching 52-Week Highs And Going Higher [View article]
HUGE thanks to you, Bret, for pounding the table on GILD. I remember wishing I'd bot it in the $90s for my friend and aunt/uncle after initially picking up shares between $101-104 for them. However, I was able to double down for my aunt (an osteopath btw) @ $88, so (of course) she is pleased with how things are going.

It's her largest holding and since she refuses to hold frackers or cig stocks, I'm glad she was able to p/u a chunk of it before the train left the station.
