If menthols get banned or heavily regulated in the USA, it will have turned out to be a very good idea to take the $ and run on LO's part.

  • AT&T Has Been Battered Lately [View article]
<AT&T (NYSE:T) is just a stagnant stock and investing in it is like watching grass grow.>

Sums the whole thing up perfectly, and thank you for including your personal info w/r/t your IRA and your regular account. All the accounts I oversee hold shares and I'm adding to all as long as the pps stays under $34.

  • Philip Morris: Has The Situation Changed? [View article]
Just a quick snack on crow for me here. The recent run up to $85 put it at a 17 multiple (using 4.95 eps). However, the drop on Friday put it right back to 16.5. Tho the $USD is overbot, it's showing no signs of weakening yet. I think this will cap any major gains in PM for the time being. However, if/when $WTIC starts any significant rebound, I think we'll see the $USD finally start to come back to earth, and when both of those things happen, I think it's also likely we'll see a move in PM too.

I'm still looking to add around $80.

  • My Best Stock Idea For 2015 [View article]
    Stephen:

It's all psychological imo. Somehow we convince ourselves MCD, PEP/KO, XOM, etc. are ok to own, but cig co's are not. They all (mostly) do the same thing to our bodies-some faster than others.

Plus, at what point to give away freedom of choice and just live like robots, only eating kale and salmon all day?? At what point do adults get to choose w/out gov't getting involved?? Where does it end???

  • Vanguard Natural Resources' Shaky Distribution [View article]
So what if they cut. If anything, that would be a GOOD THING. Things are different now and I think it's important for VNR mgmt to acknowledge that survival is more important than worrying about cutting the distribution. That's life...sometimes things go against you. Don't bitch about what's already happened. Strategize about what could happen and get yourself on the right side.

At the minimum, they should cut 50%. Those of us holding (and in some cases, reinvesting) are more interested in LT survival than ST distribution amounts. LT, I want to see them get their $hit together, face reality, and prepare for the future. If that means slashing the distribution 75%, then do it, and let's get on with our business.
