It helps when the morality (and gov't regulators and taxman) police knock on the door to look as poor as possible.

  • AT&T: Aggressive Efforts To Improve Subscriber Base Earn It A Bullish Rating [View article]
First the bullish articles a while back, then the T-Mobile going after their customers news, then the negative/sell T articles, then the 'Boy, that T dividend sure looks tasty' stories, and now, bullish (again) on T articles, now that it's over $34 and you could have bot for $32 and change just a little bit ago.

How many times has this type of cycle played out???

Maybe there is more dirty laundry in GEC than has been made public and they'd like to divest it to keep the flies off the mothership.

You never really know with this one.

Until Icahn can actually force some real change, the same lousy mgmt team is still in place and their fleet isn't as young as ESV or SDRL, and with ESV, NE, and SDRL paying better dividends, I'll stick with ESV and maybe NE. SDRL is too leveraged for my taste, and would be a smaller part of my portfolio if I decided to buy.

ESV has low payout ratio and best safety record. Both are a big deal to me.

  • Shell to bundle loss-making North American shale ops in restructure [View news story]
Lmao...that's funny. I'm surprised at the strength of the pps of late. Yes, they're selling assets trying to focus on the money makers and right the ship, but they still don't appear to have a clear focus.

Scary how much they own and control yet don't seem to be able to optimize their business....kinda like GE.

  • KKR Financial: KKR Should Pay More For Us [View article]
    Insightful article-thanks.

I don't see what incentive they have to sweeten the offer. Also, how close are the big KFN shareholders to mgmt of KKR (and to the big shareholders of KKR)??? My gut tells me the offer will go through as is, and they will find a way to compensate the biggest shareholders, or rather, placate them. If this offer is low balling KFN's true value, then it would stand to reason that those shareholders whose shares are worth millions wouldn't simply allow it without some type of compensation.
