Any comments from SA or readers?>>

Profits, shmofits...ya shoulda held...you woulda had mucho more profits.

<<Looking to ease back in for the dividend, not so much for the growth. Market/economy conditions for what they are - I'm thinking now is probably as good as time to start building a position(for retirement/fixed income).>>

    An excellent idea imo.

  • A Number Of Concerning Catalysts To Consider Before Creating A Position In Altria Group [View article]
<<I always wonder why people write articles about stock they don"t own?>>

Conflict of interest? Don't have dry powder yet but want to buy??

Bugs me too, but there are a few good reasons sometimes imo.

<<I have held a position in MO longer then the author of this article has been alive.>>

Now that's not a statement you see every day.

<<A serious investor should make MO a cornerstone in his portfolio.>>

Now this is a more common one, but right on the money. MO is on my 'to buy' list when I have more dry powder.

  • General Electric Has Not Doubled... Yet [View article]
No mention of GE's foray into gas and oil???

Not a big fan of 'old' GE, but hoping they are working on recreating themselves, and finding a way to get Immelt to join Balmer on one of those islands that only billionaires are allowed on.

Disc: Don't own any GE myself, but do for one client, and will add for her if pps goes under $23.

  • Why I Sold ConocoPhillips With Its Juicy Yield [View article]
COP was floundering in the $50s until the last ER showed they are on the right track. Now it's $10 higher. Were its PEG ratio or fwd p/e any better than they are right now back then?? COP is still working on shedding their old image, so every step is a fight for respect. They have a 4%+ div and and a payout ratio under 45??? C'mon, if you want to make some $, you can't wait 'til analysts move their targets high enough to raise the fwd p/e and a lowering of the PEG. You need to see what's been going on and extrapolate into the future. Sure, that's risky, but this is the stock market version 2013-that's life.

RIG suffers from weak mgmt imo, and though there is definitely a lot of potential there, they shouldn't be bothering with a dividend. They need to remake their image and regrow their biz. Remember when their pps was $160??? We won't see that again. They need new blood, new rigs, and a new image. Then, they could start thinking about heading back to triple digits.

  • Time To Add Yield: Part I [View article]
<< and the company has raised its payout by ~20% since coming public in late 2011>>

Bret, I bought OKS in Jan 2009, so I'm certain this statement is false.

Tell me you cut and pasted someone else's error and didn't make it yourself. I say this b/c it wouldn't reflect well on your rec if you weren't even aware that it has been publicly traded for quite a while.

<< They are just now entering the Tablet/Smartphone arenas. That gives them a new market of hundreds of millions of devices. If anything, this is the beginning of a large growth period for Intel.>>

There are folks (QCOM comes to mind) that are WAAAAY ahead of them. Their cash hoard will not buy their way to the top imo.

  • A Closer Look At Plains All American Pipeline's Distributable Cash Flow As Of Q2 2013 [View article]
<< My reasoning was because I can tell by watching all the MLP's as they get "re-priced" downward due to we are now entering a "new phase" called rising interest rates and the Fed is going to start the "tapering process" sooner rather than later.>>

It's a ruse, and the fear it's creating is giving investors better prices on some solid names. The taper is a show, a political calculation to give the Fed some cred. When the market finds out how little actual tapering will actually occur this year, you'll wish you kept your PAA.

I know, a lot of supposition. Wait and watch.
