  • Easy To See Why Warren Buffett Likes General Electric [View article]

How long will WB hold the warrants??
What price did he exercise them at??
Now that GE is in the mid $25 range, what does he think of the stock going forward??

Had he bot the stock yesterday, he would have cleared about $10 million-in less than 24 hours. Good timing indeed.

Excellent point, CK, but there their pps has managed to stay afloat during this very volatile time for investors, even going up on huge down days for the rest of the market.

Obviously, there are some that see value here.

  • Phillips 66: Looking Forward To An Earnings Related Dip [View article]

For Q3 2013, Phillips 66 will most likely report its weakest ever EPS number. However, do not let that headline spook you. Phillips 66 has tons of growth projects on its deck as well as a shareholder friendly management team. In addition, Phillips 66 is rather cheap, with a EV/EBITDA at around 4.50X. Phillips 66 is definitely a stock worth buying on any large dip.>>

<<Additional disclosure: I may initiate a long position in Chevron (CVX) at any time>>

Huh??? You make a compelling arguement for buying PSX on any pullback, but you are only interested in buying CVX???

    Care to explain??

Disagree Carbonyl. Please go back and reread some of your posts. They are (at times) confrontational, and Chris' use of the word altercation is quite accurate.

And Surfgeezer has posted an incredible amount of helpful, insightful, and intelligent info that has helped me a ton.

Whatever you're angry about, Surfgeezer has nothing to do with it.

  • Altria: Accumulate This Cash Cow And Enjoy A 5.5% Dividend Yield [View article]
    Again with this argument.

Jargon1: No mention of the ill effects products from XOM, KO, MCD, etc ????

I'm not saying what you posted doesn't have merit, but c'mon. All advertising is BS-it's ALL FAKE, to get people to buy junk they most likely don't need, and some of which is bad for them.

What about co's like Storm Ruger and Smith & Wesson?? Should those be publicly traded and ever mentioned in public at all???? Should Hollywood continue to glorify violence???

My point is where does it end?? Are cig co's the boogeyman?? How 'bout vitamins that can end up damaging our bodies if not taken a particular way?

Mankind is deeply flawed-DEEPLY. Without petroleum products, do you realize how different the world would be today? What about LMT and Raytheon?? Is our defense worth these co's making products that kill other people?? How about Oshkosh that makes vehicles our soldiers drive around in??

Or beer/wine/liquor co's??? I enjoy having the freedom to have a few drinks when I get home at night. In the long run, that may do me harm, but as an adult, I take responsibility for that and accept the consequences.

Smokers need to do the same. If you feel that strongly about it, you have the freedom to help others quit. We have the freedom to invest how we see fit. It isn't a black and white argument, and both sides have good points. As long as there are people, there will always be this problem. If it's not cigs, it will be something else, in a thousand years, and in ten thousand years.

Thanks, CK. I'm sorry to veer off topic (sector), but since I had posted the first comment, I thought it wouldn't be too far out of bounds to mention the adjustment in my QRE holdings by disclosing I used some to p/u PSEC.

Didn't mean to throw a tangent in the discussion : D

  • Lorillard: Big Upside Still Ahead For This E-Cig Market Leader [View article]
Unless the gov't comes out and bans ecigs (possible, but not likely at this point), I think they will continue to become more and more popular, and more and more accepted by nonsmokers too. In fact, the one thing I've seen mentioned but not really stressed all that much is the ramifications of smokers moving to ecigs. Once upon a time, bars were filled with people smoking and drinking, and this was simply commonplace. Then, with anti-smoking laws, it drove smokers out into the cold and rain, and basically vilified smoking AND those who smoked. Non-smokers didn't want smoke blown in their faces or the stench to get into their clothes, hair, etc. But now that that problem has been eliminated, smokers now get to come back inside, rejoin the party, and drink and smoke at the same time. AND, tobacco co's get to reap the profits.

I really feel that the socializing aspect that ecigs bring will go a very long way toward moving smokers (and those that may) to switch, and with much less stigma attached to smoking ecigs (and even less as people get used to them), they stand to get a lot more popular.

It will be an interesting race to see if one co can be the ecig king.

Now if we can just keep the gov't from interfering...

Agree with lungbunny2 (great name btw).

Yield seekers would back up the truck @ 6% for PAA and EPD. Only if they dropped a ton in severe panic selling would they get near 7%.

They are as solid as they come.

Sold 1/3 of my QRE stake and bot PSEC @ $10.96 the other day. Just too good to pass up at that price, and I've been wanting to initiate a position under $11 for quite a while.

<<And for this horrible performance they charged my parents over $3700 dollars in fees this year alone! Fidelity should not be charging that kind of money for serving my parents so poorly.>>

Agreed. All the gobbelygook the friggin brokerages continually swim around in, charge all those fees, hide behind tired lines and tags, and their performances are so mediocre.

Great job taking the reigns and helping your parents out. Keep up the good work!!

My only point of contention: T is a solid dividend payer, and despite not cutting it during your F.A.S.T. graphs check, could help your parents make some $, particularly in sideways to down markets. I'd suggest MO, RAI, LO, and PM, but you already spoke your peace on those : D

ps-Agree with your inclusion of AFL and QCOM!!
