  • The Chinese bear keeps growling [View news story]
I find that China "so called " Blue Chips have been impacted little in last 3 day trading debacle. Of those I own from June 30th through July 2nd

    CHL-China Mobile +$1.08 (+1.71%)
    HNP-Huaneng Power -$3.09 (-5.68%) however paid $2.45 div 6-30
    CYD-China Yuchai -$0.21 (-1.24%)
    ACGBY-Ag Bank of China -$0.43 (-3.29%) however paid $0.74 div 6-30

One guidleline I use on China stocks is who their auditors are and look for those whose auditors are the big 4 ...Deloitte-Pricewater... & Young and KPMG

  • Helmerich & Payne: Let History Be Your Guide [View article]
Me too....primary considerations were quality/value of company and financial standings.

I perceive the company as "the" leader in its dividend aristocrat with a Graham # of about $70/share and 360.91M in cash vs 80.00M debt.

Win, lose or draw I can live with outcome knowing I bought on (in my view) solid factors.

  • SA Contributors Position For 2015 [View article]
I enjoy your site and 1st site I visit in early am. Since your topic is about contributors thought I'd make a little contribution. I found it interesting to check on ranks of experts here from 3rd party source and was amazed who ranked poorly and who ranked well.

Highest rank I found was Dividends4Life who ranked 8th out of 7,528 experts that site tracks. My hats off to him!

  • How Can You Sleep At Night Holding Seadrill? [View article]
If "any" one stock keeps anyone from sleeping it's not the stocks fault.
it's a non diversification issue. I can see market dropping 40% and creating anxiety for some but if one stock does.. the lesson learned from putting one self in that position may be a worth while lesson for future.

  • Retirement Strategy: Annuities Vs. Dividend Growth Investing For A Lifetime Income [View article]
States have guaranteed associations inside their department of insurance that will cover such assets up to $100,000 in most cases.

I do agree with most points in this article and have been an insurance broker for 30 years and have yet to write my 1st annuity. There are however situations where they are excellent vehicle to solve objective.

Case in point...I have brother that if I left him $100,000 cash he would double it in 10 sister on the other hand would have nothing left in probably less than year. By purchasing an annuity for her instead of giving her cash she could only squander the monthly proceeds.

    I enjoyed article...thank RS

  • Debunk The Myths On China [View article]
    Enjoyed article Tony..Thanks

Having been to China numerous times I certainly agree with you. I would like add a few notes. On your comment of labor market..I find it interesting they have no welfare and find ways to keep most people employed. One example is handicapped people do not have to pay for occupational or license fees in the taxi market and have stickers on their vehicles noting they are handicapped and everyone will utilize them as 1st choice.

In the lower income housing districts there are no bars on windows but rather an open door policy with each helping one another. You never see any looting following catastrophes.

Don't know if you have ever been to island of Hainan but it is same latitude with same weather as Hawaii...and real estate at 75% discount of Hawaii prices.
