    Crank,

OMG, the hockey season was cancelled? I don't think anyone down here has noticed yet.... hehe.

But excellent point about the beer. I'm a snob, I only drink European brews.

    Briar,

Many have tried to irritate me, but they, like you, would have had more luck pushing on a string.

Y'see, . I love to argue. The more people push back, the more I like it, so bring it on, big feller.

PS, I don't know what wives have to do with anything, but maybe I can get a sweetheart deal from the commissioner too. I'll just tell him I know Briar and the doors will open.

    Dave,

Wonderful example, but I'm afraid it will fall on deaf ears. Briar's "challenged" by any viewpoint not specifically endorsed by Warren Buffett.

    Cranky,

Hah, yes. The money-hungry Washington crowd will go to great lengths to pressurize you furriners into complying, and if Canada doesn't fall in line and provide that info, we'll simply have to invade.

Some down here are still mad about 1814 when you burned down the White House and Capitol. I personally think you should come back and do it again, but that's another story.

A sensible tax policy? Hmmm, the odds are slim on that one. I'm still putting the odds of going over the fiscal cliff at 50-50.

    George,

"I'm ashamed to admit that you are right about all points, "

I've bookmarked that admission for future reference (and/or potential blackmail). I'll brandish it like a sword against all who dare question my unquestionable wisdom.

As for the leaky roof, I got that one covered. The condo association is responsible for keeping my exterior neat, dry and tidy. I pay for that privilege via condo dues of course.

    Crank,

Raising corporate taxes will mean I (and everyone else) will just end up paying more for my goods and services.

A tax holiday for that overseas cash will also mean I, Mr dividend collector, will still also pay more in taxes, but at the more (or perhaps less) favorable dividend rate. The non-dividenders and average uninvested citizens won't pay any more, and yet the government will still benefit more than if the money stays overseas. I see this as mutually beneficial for all.

I do seem to recall the Prez wanted to lower the corporate tax rate, but eliminate a bunch of loopholes. Maybe I was just dreaming?

    George,

I suspect we are more in agreement than the alternative. I personally have a top floor condo and alas, have no basement, but the view is much nicer and it's less damp..

But George, it's really difficult to sell options on a $500k stock. Believe me, I've tried.

    Briar,

So don't learn. I wouldn't want you to be unduly challenged by moving outside your comfort zone. Change is always difficult.

I personally find it possible to learn something from everyone. Sometimes you just need to work a bit harder and try to see things from THEIR viewpoint.

And that is my point. The end.

    cue applause.

    George,

Yes, my retirement might well be a myth...most successful SA commenters live in their mom's basement. Then again, anyone who spends as much time on SA as I do would have a hard time finding a job with a company that allows employees to spend all day roaming the internet.

And yes, I do indeed take my inventing as seriously as I did my previous real jobs. But let's be honest, my normal state consists of several dozen open orders which don't require constant monitoring.

That leaves the rest of my time to research possible buys & current holdings, scour options tables for "inefficiencies", watch a football game (soccer to you yanks), and comment on SA more or less simultaneously. Oh yes, and drink LOTS of coffee.

    surf,

Yes, I too consider the annualized return on a put premium when I'm looking at strikes/expiries. I also want premiums greater than the dividend payout for the corresponding period. I like having my cake and eating it too...

    George,

I love myths. In fact two of them enabled me to retire early.

    The dividend myth is one.

    The options myth is another.

That second one's probably dearer to your heart..... ("Nobody ever makes money on options") Sound familiar?

Fair enough. If your closed mind prevents you from learning anything from me, that would only be your loss.
