    Pen,

    Briar,

" wonder, if M&M had allowed their emotion--a love of dividends--to influence their thinking, would they have ever come to their widely recognized insight that dividends don't affect the value of a business--inherent earning power does."

Love of dividends doesn't exclude love of companies with earnings power.

"The current transaction would have been recorded as: credit cash; debit accounts receivable: change in wealth net zero."

BRK was down last week. Your net wealth would have decreased as well...

    mIKE,,

"There are 2-3 articles a week on the impending financial meltdown, and I might pay them some heed if the trend toward these articles hadn't started in 2012!"

I read a lot of these types of articles mainly to gauge market sentiment. I'm amazed that some will buy or sell based on one person's opinion.

    Hardog,

"You and RAS are too much. I thought we were not supposed to have fun on this site, just stick to the script. "

People always have a lot of fun here. That's probably what upsets the DG critics so much.

    trev,

I think he's creating his own website.

I read his articles because they presented thoughtful opinions on mostly macro trends and issues here and abroad. That said, I took his market predictions as I take all market predictions, with gigantic grains of salt.

    wwu,

The S&P500 had already dropped maybe 200 points by the time he went to cash as I recollect, which was the bottom of that correction.

He was still writing articles suggesting investors go all in cash in December 2011, and following such advice would have been a costly mistake.

    dnorm,

You seem to have an unhealthy obsession with a 6-foot tall DGI rabbit named Harvey.

George writes entertaining articles about options strategies, and I use such strategies extensively.

So chillax. You're looking for a fight in the wrong place.

    Mike,

A widely read SA author was advising readers to go to cash a few years ago when Europe was in turmoil. Quite a few evidently followed the advice, and many got burned when the EU didn't collapse and the resulting correction never came.

    WSD,

"Cliff Asness' AQR manages over $80 Billion in AUM, primarily because he understands how markets actually work. "

Or he's a great salesman armed with pithy quotes.

One thing's for sure. with all that AUM, his funds are certainly drawing in a lot of cash from the sidelines.
