  • Karl Popper And Dividend Growth Investing [View article]
    Varan,

Speaking of funny, the funniest thing I see is how detractors try to lump everyone in the DGI community into some nice neat box, when in reality, most people hold a variety of other investments.

Well, no, the funniest thing I see is how most detractors never reveal their own investment results, good OR bad.

    disillusioned,

Some of us actually enjoy Tim's take on investing. Some of us also enjoy receiving dividends and have fun researching dozens of stocks. For those who don't or can't or have a wonderful life elsewhwere, there are always ETFs and index funds and RIAs happy to take your money. To each his own.

Watching paint dry can be pretty exciting, depending upon the circumstances...

  • How Much Do You Want To Bet On That Dividend? [View article]
Writing negative articles about dividends on SA certainly makes you wealthier. Here's my one cent, Greg. Don't spend it all in one place.

  • I Don't Understand Dividends [View article]
    George,

I like, no actually I LOVE getting my money back (and without having to sell anything) , that's why I invest.

As for a corporation's ability to put money to work, I offer exhibit A - AAPL and its $100 billion cash hoard. Maybe they're saving up to buy MSFT?

  • Are Dividend Stocks A Substitute For Bonds? [View article]
    Makoto,

    Amen.

Too many want to be spoon-fed.

I just read a comment where someone was truly upset: He had been blindly following a prediction (from some often-published SA author) about a major, impending market drop and had gone 100 percent cash based on that prediction. The drop hasn't yet come true... and the author apparently took a few weeks off for Christmas. The commenter was complaining because he felt abandoned, here he is, all in cash, and can't decide what to do next...

    varan,

"that's all the Baby Boomers need: half-baked investment advice, "

Maybe you should write a few articles outlining your fully-baked investment advice.

I've been reading your bitter-sounding comments for years now and have no idea what your investment methods might be (or if you even have any investment methods of your own).

Six or seven other references to "retired investors" sprinkled throughout the article finally tipped me off that Chuck was aiming this at retired investors....

    Larry,

" you're just making a strawman, to continue the phony "war". Truly sad."

Mike was expressing his views, and he did a fine job of it. He didn't name any names. There was no strawman. You're perpetrating this "phony war" by continually bringing it up.

  • Dividend Growth Investors: Do They Have A Point Or Is It Too Close To Call? [View article]

"You think your (david fish's or any other DGI investor's) portfolio returns will beat mine on an ongoing basis?"

There's nothing to think about. We haven't seen your portfolio.

"in no case will I be posting positions to be reverse engineered. "

Very wise. The Chinese are reading SA in hopes you'll give something away and they can reverse engineering your "proprietary strategy".
