  • Consumer Confidence Hits 5 Month Low, Economy Slowing, Yet Stocks Will Rise. [View instapost]
The latest 12 week moving average of Rail Traffic (YOY) comes in at 5%. How do you square a positive base metric such as this with the world and USA economy is going to completely implode at any minute? (which you have been saying for the past 2 years)

In addition, If you wrote your book in 2012 and saw deflation, why did you make that bullish across the board commodity call in January 2013 and specifically your bullish silver call when it was at $33 in January of 2013?

  • Today Outright Manipulation In The Paper Gold & Silver Markets. Here Is What Occurred. [View instapost]
If you have even a basic understanding of a Calendar, you know that Sept 1, 2014 was a national USA Holiday, the USA markets were closed, hence GLD and SLV did not trade. The price of Gold dropped on Sept. 1 in the world markets and dropped significantly. What l was GLD and SLV suppose to do when it opened on Sept 2? Gap up?

Very good article, very well written.

Just to add, Fedun recently said It plans to build a cash reserve of $30 billion over the next five years to guard against the risk of further disruption to capital markets and to finance future acquisitions.
"To boost cash, the company will offer at least $1 billion in shares in Hong Kong as early as next year and reduce capital spending by a quarter".

  • SABESP Significant Downside Risk [View article]
80 percent likelihood that El Nino could start between Oct and Nov and 60 percent that it would do so between now and end of August, said the UN's weather agency, the World Meteorological Organization.

For Brazil, El Nino should bring heavier rains in the southern part of the country and help refill the reservoirs.

I think the drought conditions will soon be over.

Porsche sold 165,000 vehicles in 2013, giving it a mkt cap per unit of $100,000. I think TSLA will eventually settle out somewhere close to this metric.

  • An Economic Moat Analysis Of Exelon [View article]
From the EIA Jan. Electricity Monthly Update

The second factor contributing to high wholesale electricity prices were the extremely high natural gas prices in several parts of the country (see second tab). In the Northeast, natural gas prices reached $78/MMBtu in New England (Algonquin), $121/MMBtu in New York City (Transco Zone 6-New York), $92/MMBtu in the mid-Atlantic (Tetco M-3) and $33/MMBtu in the Midwest (Chicago Citygates). These prices were high enough to incent the use of petroleum for electric generation, something rarely seen in recent years due to the relatively high price of petroleum products in relation to natural gas.
