  • Sell Tesla Now, Its Strategy Is Already Failing [View article]
Not to doubt your comment but just curious, which hotel did you stay at? What was the distance of the one way trip for you to Vegas with the AC on full blast? I was there a year ago and didn't notice any charging stalls in the Venetian. Do they have more charging stalls in the parking lots now?

For a person in the market to consider the Tesla, the difference is not that much. The current market being rich people who can afford to buy the car as a toy due to its tech and range issue (i.e. drive it daily with another normal luxury vehicle as a backup for longer range). Isn't the BMW comparison somewhat irrelevant? The Tesla pyramid is a simple two steps so far to put it more aptly. The 3 series and the 5 series and the 7 series covers a price range of $35k to $80k.

Now, assuming Tesla reaches the $35k price point with the same 260mile range, which i'm assuming is their minimum goal. Are you suggesting that people would still be purchasing the $90k S model? Unless you're assuming price is directly proportional to range, then yea, no one's going to buy a 60 mile range plugin. No one knows what Tesla is going to offer in Gen3. Everyone expects them to put something out that meets expectations if not exceeds them.

For the record, I do think the stock is over valued though, but their strategy is fine.

Just want to point out, 2008 was the financial crises... You could buy anything reputable then and be positive today.

  • Questions The Nokia Board Of Directors Need To Answer [View article]
My question is how many of the people here owning NOK stock have a WP8 phone? If you don't own a WP8 phone, why would WP8 holding on to the Handsets and Devices unit be a good thing?

Voting no would mean Nokia backs out taking a $750million charge. Wouldn't that destroy Nokia's stock price? Let's face it, Nokia is not moving enough devices to do damage with WP8. The HnD unit for Nokia continues to lose money. How long can Nokia afford to let HnD bleed it out if it does not offload it?

Although highly unlikely, what if Nokia backs out, Microsoft decides to pay the $750million and buys HTC instead (HTC American HQ is also in Bellevue Washington), current HTC market cap is $3billion USD. The hardware is already there and they don't need to deal with the manufacturing. It would throw 2 years of integration with Nokia down the drain though, although HTC does put out some WP8 phones. Long-term licensing of Nokia camera Patents might be worth the differentiation though.

The question is, does Microsoft need Nokia more than Nokia needs Microsoft, is Microsoft willing to pay $10-12 billion for Nokia?

Isn't the name lease only for feature phones? Big difference, smartphones are not included. They can use Nokia for feature phones, but any smartphone will not have the brand.
