  • Are Ratings Agencies Protecting Countries Like They Did With Mortgage Debt? [View article]
Maybe we need to teach ourselves and our children to do the best job possible using all our ethics and brains to do more than less. We need to get away from the mentality that we are entitled to a million plus dollars per year income to keep us on our job.

  • Equities Roundup: Dow's January Decline Is Biggest in 11 Months [View article]
My bank stock is worth nothing when the bank closed. The bank closed because the sub prime loans foreclosed and dumped upside down property on the market which in turn made the legitimate fannie loans upside down. The the community banks that had commercial loans to builders and developers could not get their money back because the builders could not compete with the mortgage bankers who where selling their foreclosure for 50 cents on the dollar. Now the county appraiser says the same house is still worth 1 dollar but the bank sold for 50 cents so the county tax is still high. The mortgage company will not remove the pmi on their customers who did not default and pay their mortgage on time and some customers even pay more into principle balance reducing their loan because they do not agree with the county tax appraiser. What I am saying is an appraisal should be an appraisal what a property is valued at in today's market. What a normal, willing, purchaser is willing to pay for a given property but depending on who it benefits we have a different interpretation of the law. Between the two appraisers we have a value discrepancy of 55,000 dollars.

  • Is AT&T Confused - Or Just Smarter than Everyone Else? [View article]
I think in some ways they are smart. They have a bundle package that includes home phone, inter net, t.v./statilite, and cell phone with one ad. The only problem I ran into is it was confusing and the pricing was not as good as I expected for the value so I do not recommend it to any of my customers who transfer in.

  • Why the Wal-Mart Version of Retail Is Unsustainable [View article]
I shopped at a store called aldi and at the register there was an older lady putting her groceries from her cart onto the register table that rolls when the cashier pushes a button. The lady was old and slow and the cashier kept rolling the table so my stuff at the end caught up with her things even if I put a divider the cashier kept pushing the button. The older lady made a comment to the cashier and the cashier told me to hold my groceries. The cashier was snotty and rude. I am older too and I would not have put it on the table with a divider made available to me at the register table if I did not have two bags of flour, one bag of potatoes, and one bag of onion. We have a grocery store at every corner and all reasonably priced so maybe they price the lowest or think they do and do not care about the bottom line or if they have a job. Maybe it is the grocery store Aldi's marketing.

  • Why the Wal-Mart Version of Retail Is Unsustainable [View article]
I have been to a wal mart in different states and in different countries but I ran into something that I could not rationalize away in Georgia. I shopped at a less educated demographic area of metro Atlanta and every time I shopped in this store for over one year my cash register tape did not match up with the price posted on the shelf with the item. It never happened at a more affluent area. It usually ran about a dollar or two on a total of about 18-20 dollars. I emailed them to complain and they would call to humor me but when I went back to the store the same thing happened. I emailed again but I took a picture of the item and kept the tape. They called me to say they corrected it but I have not been back. When the person who said he was a regional manager called he sounded angry and hostile that he got caught. They maybe doing many things that drive away the customer and now showing up in the bottom line.
