I am a student of the market, and have been blessed to make a living doing my hobby - researching and investing in stocks. I am a patient, long-term investor who likes to capitalize on misperceptions, short-term dislocations, and an occasional risky stock too unsavory for polite company, but with sufficient upside to warrant taking the risk.
I invest (technically) part-time, but I love the markets and immerse myself in them daily. I enjoy writing about my investment ideas as it helps me to organize my thoughts and I am happy to share if it helps others. I invite criticism as it will help sharpen my ideas, so please tell me where, in your opinion, I am going wrong.
I try to carefully trade weekly & monthly stock options with expertise in mining companies & traditional manufacturers. Speak & write fluent Portuguese and speak good Spanish. Resided twice in Brazil and once on Guam Island. Employed at the same large foreign-owned Distribution Center the past 15 years & completely 100% Pro-NAFTA. Smart individual investing is the preferred solution to improving one's economic future, as opposed to vast & vague government handouts. Seeking Alpha is the #1 best financial blog because of honest opinions & superb organization.
Hi, I am a novice with a lot to learn. I began this journey in 2008. I read a book on mutual funds. Not even aware there was a financial crisis (embarrassed icon) I invested in two mutual funds. I have a BS in psychology and a MA in psychology counseling. Recently I earned the title of a LPC.(Licensed Professional Counselor)
This web site, from my experience, has a plethora of invaluable data from people with a wealth of experience. For me, it is a gift they are willing to share their knowledge, experience, their "winners" and even share the "lumps" they taken. I admire anyone who gets knocked down in the market, brushes themselves off and stands at home plate again for another swing.
A big THANK YOU!!!!! to all those who have done their due diligence and share it daily. Oh from my photo, it's obvious I was a HUGE Boston Celtics fan during "The Bird Era!!!"

I am an individual investor. Became interested in dividend growth investing and managing my own portfolio through my reading adventures at Seeking Alpha. I've learned a ton from everyone who contributes and comments here. Still have a long way to go even though I'm semi-retired and drawing Social Security.

I am an experienced individual investor who has been trading merger arbitrage stocks and options since the 90's. I am a writer with a Master of Science from Northwestern University and I truly enjoy writing articles about the stock market. I try to look for opportunities where the odds are in my favor and there is a definite edge. On Seeking Alpha my articles will aim to provide insight and favorable risk/reward for the readers. However, I am not an investment advisor so any recomendations or ideas I write about in my articles, blogs, or comments shouldn't be taken as investment advice. I recommend using my writings as a starting point to which you should add your own research or that of an investment advisor.
"Any time you make a bet with the best of it, where the odds are in your favor, you have earned something on that bet, whether you actually win or lose the bet. By the same token, when you make a bet with the worst of it, where the odds are not in your favor, you have lost something, whether you actually win or lose the bet."

Retired entrepreneur who now manages his stock portfolio full time. Mainly a dividend investor, particularly international stocks without withholding taxes as my tax position does not allow me to reclaim any withholding taxes.
I am ALWAYS looking for interesting stock ideas involving dividend paying stocks that pay dividends with zero or very low withholding taxes and willing to share ideas with other investors.
I also like high risk situations as I am well diversified and have a long time horizon
