Our Intrepid Outlook For 2013 And 3 Stocks Ahead Of The Curve
I feel you're downplaying the gridlock in DC and its potential effect on market conditions. " ... we suspect that an Obama not facing reelection will be able to find the middle ground." Really?!? I just can't imagine what you've seen in the past 4 years that would lead you to that conclusion.
Although I'm impressed with the markets' resilience and gains these last few months, seems prudent to hold off any new purchases at the moment.
Clearly, interest rates can't go any lower, but that's been the case for +/- 4 years. Doesn't mean they have to go up ... can still go sideways for a while longer. Being in high quality intermediate term bonds or bond funds has been quite rewarding the past few years. I think that the outstanding performance of this asset class in recent years, offers the luxury of being patient, and waiting to react until the bond market decides it's time for rates to go up in earnest.
