  • Tesla's Legislative Dilemma [View article]
Car dealership is a thing of the past. Service can be handled by third-party or auto company representing partner. The generation raised on the internet doesn't purchase anything like their parents did. Ever forward, who needs car sales people, buy-direct.

  • Tesla Motors (TSLA +5.5%) wins a court battle in New York when a judge dismisses a case against the automaker trying to prevent it from selling directly to consumers. [View news story]
Good win, dealers are not needed, with the internet consumers buy direct. Dealerships are a dying business model, service shops nothing more.

  • "Apple (AAPL -2.1%) is leaning toward additional dividends or a share buyback program," Quartz reports. Sources claim an announcement could arrive in spring, possibly at the same time as a product announcement. Between Apple's remarks and David Einhorn's campaign, many of the Street have been expecting a move. [View news story]
They dont rush. The gap between products is the shortest it's ever been. I know many who went GSIII - back now, cheap, free whatever the deal, they regret and return to the iOS eco-system.

He claims Supply chain checks indicate the iPhone build rate will fall to 25M in the March quarter (his sales estimate for the quarter is still at 40M); that some Chinese sources don't expect the iPhone 5 to do as well as the 4S; and (like others) that the iPad Mini is cannibalizing its bigger peer.  On a more positive note, he thinks China Mobile could start selling the iPhone in a year. Quite thoughtful. 100% agree, let all the shorts get out of the stock and all of us who have held AAPL since the "bad times" … beige mac days, we'll be very happy with the more "good times" at Apple to come.

  • Apple Upgraded to Outperform [View article]
Apple's DNA was set in motion once again by SJ's return. Look at PIXAR as an example, SJ worked with the original team, put in place the environment the team at PIXAR needed to thrive, many successes later they continue to achieve excellence in animation, story-telling and technology utilization. Apple will be no different. The right people are there with the vision and momentum to continue to out deliver, with or without SJ, but hoping for with, for a long time to come.
