  • How Many Lumia Phones Does Nokia Need To Sell? [View article]
Hmm interesting, I'll run through the numbers later. But this is quite the discrepant from this analyst with 40.8 million smart devices with a price target of $7.30. http://on.barrons.com/...

  • Elop The Magnificent Makes Nokia's Dividend Disappear [View article]
This article was rather emotional... "we have been amused by the vociferous support the investment community has given this company, even though its performance has been pitiful and pathetic under its CEO, Steven Elop. We were surprised that Nokia's share price shot up by 19% on January 10th, even though Nokia pre-released pedestrian financial results." yikes lol.

  • Nokia: Is Now The Time To Cash In? [View article]
A year ago Symbian was dying, run rate was too high, Networks was posting losses, and had high restructuring costs. Q4 will have high restructuring costs as well but should post a profit.

What people seem to forget is this quarter will be one of the last major restructuring costs. So shorts need to be very careful on the 24th on their future quarterly outlook (although it will be once again conservative)

So the 6.6m is tad closer to break even then your 15m estimate. That being said, even the bulls weren't this bullish of the restructuring operation. Looks like it's really paying off, although you were much too pessimistic. But we'd have to see the numbers first.

Profit warning usually comes 2 weeks before earnings. Nokia has posted profit warnings to the downside before in recent quarters. Shorts were clearly not expecting one to the upside by this price action.

Reading your past comments, your estimates didn't include the Asha line.

Please don't EVER cover your short Eld. Looks like 4.4m was close enough to break even in D&S. Your 10-15m to break even in D&S was a bit off I guess.

  • Nokia Lumia 920 Limited Supply - Resolved By January? [View article]
His article implies both will mobile phone units with drop further and ASP will go down. Both went up in Q2 and Q3. Maybe you posted the wrong link?

If I read that article in April 2012, I'd model that Q3 would sell around 60m units with a lower ASP, not 76m.

That article kind of shows how overblown our fears were.

  • Nokia Scores Big Win With China Mobile Partnership For Lumia 920T [View article]
It was already known that they would carry the Lumia 920T through various leaks. Plus that base of 8-10m 3G will grow quickly.

The stock moved from the Lumia 620 launch which is a WP8 device that is priced at around $250. This would be the lowest priced WP8 device, and as you know, now has the potential to sell the most given it's entry price.

  • Nokia: A Speculative Buy, Watch Lumia And NSN [View article]
If you think Q1 can sell 10m, then you can expect a strong net positive in the Device and Services for Q1 given that their projected restructuring costs for that quarter is very low in comparison to the last 3 quarters.

Also the most saturated market share for android (low end) has competition in the Lumia 510. Should be interesting to see how that does.
