  • Update: Westport Innovations Slashes 2014 Forecasts  [View article]
    Good Innovative Technology:
Over the past five years, blue-chip giants like FedEx Corporation, Waste Management, Inc., and The Coca-Cola Company have begun using Westport’s technology. Today, Westport is getting calls from railroad operators, shipping transporters, and cell phone tower owners that are now interested in natural gas. Westport and its partners have filed over 700 patent applications for natural gas engines. That means it’s almost impossible for a competitor to enter the market without infringing on at least one of the company’s patents.

    Promising Clean Energy:
North America is in the midst of an energy revolution. Thanks to new technologies like horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing, billions of barrels of previously unrecoverable oil and gas are now being pulled out of shale fields across the continent. The sudden glut of supply has ushered in a period of ultra-low natural gas prices. And trucking companies are converting their fleets in mass from diesel to natural gas to take advantage of the huge savings.Today, less than 0.05% of the 234 million vehicles in the United States run on natural gas. But if Westport can capture just 1% of this market, the stock could go higher from here.

    Strategic Partners:
JV with Cummins, Chinese JV with Weichai. India JV with Tata Motors Limited, India's largest automobile company

This price level $7.67 could be an excellent buy point. Good innovative leading technology, promising clean energy future and good strategic partners should bring back this company in the future. Right now, I have seen three Fibonacci and parallel channels clustering around $7. It couild be the Climax Bottom. My first target would be $15, then $30. The amount of cash to be burned will be the key.

Battery factories have tenancy to cause explosion. I would not invest battery manufacturers companies. SONY battery factory had several explosions during 1995-1998.

I have been watching Westport since last year and finally got the chance to buy at this price level last week. Bullish pattern is forming at several support lines. The target is $25. This is extremely oversold and Downside risk is limited.

If someone can predict when, he will become billionaire quickly. Hedge fund guy, John Paulson, made billion from selling short of mortgage, but big loss of gold. You need good luck.

One of Buffett's favorite indicator is Ratio of Market Cap to GDP which is very high now: 1.25 vs. median 0.65. It was 1.5 at year 2000 and 1.1 at year 2008. When it goes above 0.8, it usually gives alarming signal. I am very worried when there are so many people saying that today is different from yesterday. I would say Greed and Fear is always the same no matter when. Fundamentalist investors rely on Macro such as Fed policy and micro economics such as business modes, accounting , EPS, Growth rate, Sales, P/E ratio, etc, however these number and business models can be changed and challenged overnight, too. And they are easier said than done. Quite often, they are more unpredictable than technical analysis.
One example Toll Brother (TOL) September of year 2005 gave rosy outlook for 2006, guess what, share price tanked from 57 to 23 during 2006. Even worse, when it already revealed real estates in severe trouble early beginning of 2006 , BOA kept climbing higher and topped at the end of year 2016. How can that be explained fundamentally ? Or we should blame on technical investors faults to push price too high by ignoring fundamental things because fundamentalist are always right ? You may see peaceful lake on the surface, but there are unseen turbulent flows under it. Please give people some respect and credits for their lifetime research. To be wrong or right is just matter of probability. Last time was wrong, this time could be right ! Be open minded.

Nice article. I really appreciated the content which wakes me up and makes me pay more attention to systematic risks which could be huge under current global situations. I do not see any prediction from your article, only to see your way of proactive approach rather than prediction. The shock wave could come from external which could also have huge impact on this domestic market.

  • Green Mountain, Coca-Cola Deal May Put SodaStream In Play  [View article]
Copy from Wikipedia: Alcohol-free beer contains 0% Alcohol. As such, it is permitted by Islam, and alcohol-free beers such as Holsten, Barbican and Moussy are often available in stores and restaurants that cater to an Islamic customer base. They are also popular in countries that enforce alcohol prohibition, such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iran. They are often available with added flavors such as apple, strawberry, and peach. The Middle East accounts for almost a third of worldwide sales of alcohol-free beer.

It's a huge market. Can SODA do it ?

  • Infoblox - Strong Sell-Off After Even Stronger Momentum  [View article]
The market is just overreaction and extremely oversold. I just place order at $17.19 tonight. I hope I can get filled tomorrow. It's just punishment for slower growth rather than facing strong competitors or fading industry. This is an IPO and it has 8 years to prove itself.

It is even better if SODA can brew non-alcohol beer. It's a trend for home-made drinks. This is a new market worth to explore. SODA just provides a platform for all kinds of home made drinks.

  • PotBelly: More Downside Ahead  [View article]
This price level of $21-22 seems to be a tradeable bottom. Several reasons such as good institutional sponsor at 56%, high short to float ratio at 29%, young growing company, SBUX behind it, recently upgraded quarterly earnings estimates from $0.05 to $0.06, will make PBPB worth to be bought at this price level and hold for a while.

  • SodaStream International: The Coming Rebound  [View article]
SODA should open its market to restaurant or fast food restaurants, such as McDonald. When you order carbonation drinks at restaurants, they only offer Pepsi, or Coca Cola, which tastes the same to me. I wish I can order variety of different tastes of drinks in addition to Cokes. Hopefully, the KO and GMCR deal could stimulate SODA competition determination and more aggressively expand the markets.

  • SodaStream: In A Worst Case Scenario Still Undervalued By 10% Even With Dripping Profits  [View article]
Many people complaint of Sodastream's flavors. One way to solve the flavor issues is that If Sodastream can partner with either Pepsi or Coca cola or both, Sodastream could sell Pepsi or Coca Cola flavor. It will be win-win situation. Environmental issue(save bottles) would also help Pepsi or Coca Cola earn good names of being environmental friendly. This couls also help the sales. My price target is $55.
