  • Agency mREITs May Have Found A Bottom  [View article]
I've been following AGNC, for about five years now and don't see how I have lost anything as of yet. Same with HTS. Good dividends and a relative stable price. What more do we need. Beats inflation and Taxes.

Have a look at Vector Group(VGR), not just the dividend, but the yearly 5% split of your total stock. If you take the 10% it pays and add the stock payout.........well, you get the point.

  • The utility sector is generally lower after New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo began an investigation into the state's utility providers, saying a major overhaul of the industry is needed. FirstEnergy (FE -1.3%), Northeast Utilities (NE -1.2%) and Westar Energy (WR -1.1%) are all down more than 1%.  [View news story]

  • The DGI Lite Portfolio Q3 2012 Update  [View article]
I think that VGT, Vector Group rather outshines the rest via the dividend plus their 5% stock split that they issue every year. If you followed them for the past couple of years and looked at their record, they may not move very much, but that additional 5% adds a great deal to their value.

For holding on as a long term investment, I don't think you could go wrong even though it is a "Sin Stock."

  • Alliance Resource Partners (ARLP) says it is evaluating the potential impact of idled production at its Pontiki mine in Kentucky to its Q3 results, including a possible impairment charge. Regardless of any decision to resume or indefinitely suspend production at Pontiki, ARLP anticipates the impact to future distributable cash flow will be negligible.  [View news story]
Will we really have buyers for this amount of additional product??

Anticipating the state of the economy and the down turn of the Chinese requirements, shut down of coal fired plants, etc., I'm not to sure that all the additionall tonnage will be sellable.

  • As part of its merger agreement with Constellation, Exelon (EXC +1%) says it will sell its three Maryland coal-fired power plants to Raven Power for $400M. The sale is expected to close in Q4, and will generate about $205M in tax benefits, with the majority to be realized in 2012 and 2013. EXC will record a pre-tax loss of about $275M in Q3 to reflect the difference between the estimated sale price and the carrying value of the plants.  [View news story]
If Obama get chucked out, those coal plants will be worth more than what we are selling them for.

  • A $7 Stock With A 7% Yield And Insider Buying  [View article]
This stock stinks. Uncertain dividens and poor managment. If you need to invest in an energy stock, take a look at Calmut (clmt) which was a family business that went public. Good business plan although a bit aggressive or C. V. Partners (uan) which is a fertilizer stock. They are both better plays, which have much room for growth and the dividens are much better.

  • Nielsen estimates Americans ages 13-17 exchange a stunning 3,417 texts/month on average, while those ages 18-24 exchange 1,914 texts/month. While all this texting is leading to a decline in voice usage, carriers probably aren't complaining, given the sky-high profit margins attached to text messages. AT&T (T) ignited some controversy in August by eliminating a moderately-priced messaging plan. (previously)   [View news story]
This is the reason I switched from AT&T. Things got too pricey. My wife and I switched from another carrier for half the price. Take a look at TMobile.
