  • Qihoo Expands Its Mobile Reach [View article]
AJR415, sorry if you did not follow. This was a continuation of my disagreement with irresponsible article published by Kumquat on October 6th, titled "Qihoo 360: Buy Before It's Too Late". Stock was about $68 at the time. I disagreed with the author opinion and credentials. I also criticized his claim that he 'may' buy on the stock, but was not buying it, while urging everyone else to do so. Now, 10 weeks later, he claims that he is right all along, even though he himself admits the stock was $10 down from the time of his BUY BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. One would reasonably expect that "buy before its too late" applies to a week or two timeframe. Now that the stock is 17% down after 10 weeks, the author is patently wrong on his claim. Sure, at some point the stock will catch up with his claim, that wasn't questioned, the timing was.

Just for your info AJR415, I was long QIHU before the time of the Kumquat's first article. I had a relatively small position, which time showed was premature to enter, at least based on my trading style . I increased my holdings in QIHU fifteen fold when the stock dropped under $57 a few days ago.

If I understand you correctly, you believe that anyone is allowed to post anything they feel like, and a reader deserves what he'll get if he listens to a bad advice. Is this your position AJR415? Well, this is your right to have this position. This is not why I read this forum; I read it in hope to find additional valid information on the stocks I am interested in, not baseless cheerleading.

  • Did Qihoo 360 JV Partner Coolpad Ship Phones Bundled With Malware? [View article]
Interesting information. You are right, this has a potential to become a major setback for Qihoo. Let's see how they will deal with it.

Kumquat: O never mind my encouragement, little boy (or girl). I was not questioning the QIHU, I was questioning your analytic depth and qualifications. I guess, give you a hand you will take it off up to the shoulder. Ask yourself, student, do you know enough to give an advice based on which people may lose their money, because they assume you are more knowledgeable than you are?
That was my issue with you, and based on your response, it is confirmed. When you will learn to count, $10 difference in this case is about 17% in price appreciation, nothing to snicker at, and being wrong for a couple of month on this magnitude is just that - wrong.

The Kumquat. Very much as I thought. But now that you are long QIHU, I offer you a word of encouragement. You bought shares, and your timing now was much better than when you wrote the first article. You sure chose to learn the hard way - facing criticism of people when you are wrong (and just the same when you are right). It'll be interesting to see, but maybe this is the best way, the time will tell.

  • Qihoo 360 Really Wants To Build Hardware [View article]
Good article. I see the deal in a little different flavor than you, though. Qihoo is not trying to build hardware this time; they are trying to leverage a proven, even if smaller, hardware manufacturer to carry their software/services. I was running both types of businesses, so I can tell you that what they are trying to accomplish is infinitely easier than building from scratch their own hardware. Whether they will succeed or not; and if they succeed, whether success will be enough for their mobile plans, that a different question.
I think it is worth a try for Qihoo. Seeing no serious initiatives for the last 2 or 4 quarters, just 'trying harder' to gain mobile market share, I see this as the first serious initiative that may change the balance (or not, of course). But overall, it makes me much more optimistic on Qihoo's prospects. They achieved a lot in the last 2 years, and I would give them a benefit of a doubt this time.

  • Qihoo 360 Q3 FY2014 Results [View article]
Now, two weeks later, QIHU price dipped under $54 for a moment. I figured it was a bottom, at least for a moment and bought a whole lot more shares at a bit over $56. Reason: I see Coolpad deal as a positive development for Qihoo.

Thank you, great balanced analysis. Both raw data and conclusions are matching each other. No bias, no propaganda, no omitted pieces (unlike The Kumquat's "Buy before it's too late" BS).
    Great work.

  • Qihoo 360 Q3 FY2014 Results [View article]
Same here, it is not reasonable, from the company valuation perspective. On the other hand, I have to admit that I was over-optimistic from stock price perspective for the last 3 months, and I should surrender my shares. The bears may be right for these 3 quarters, as much as I detest to admit it...

  • Update: Qihoo Q3 Earnings [View article]
I agree with the article. Qihu may be able to do the same trick BIDU have done in 2013, just by September 2015. Stock is undervalued against the company potential.
Sadly, analysts thrown in the wet towel:
    Credit Suisse kept TP.
Morgan Stanley from $129.60 to $111.50
    Barclay from $109 to $101
HSBC from $117 to $77; well, HSBC was all over the place on QIHU, way too optimistic in the past also, reversed now. Seems like HSBC is clueless on QIHU...
But like everything, this also will pass.

    Right on the target, no_iamspartacus.

Today QIHU started skyrocketing. Then Credit Suisse tepid upgrade at 1:15 EST cooled down the enthusiasm and the QIHU rally gave back some gains in following 2 hours. Still nicely up. It now all depends if more analyst will change their PT and justification going forward.

Exactly. Now after the Q3 report, graph changes the direction. I am sure tech analysis will explain why from the graph shape, never mind irrelevant Q3 numbers.

Interesting, now at 18:30 Est, a couple hours after the Q3 report, QIHU down -0.5%
Results are a fraction ahead estimates, but the estimates may have been as often more conservative than real expectations. Now it all depends on analyst spin and PT in the next couple of days. They may present it as a greatest thing going forward, or other way around. My guess is - I don't know which way it will go.

Anyone dares to make predictions about QIHU price direction for tomorrow before today is over? Seriously, this is the moment for the daring to test your theories and have confirmation in 24 hours.

O my, Kumquat is back. He still have not initiated a long position since his "Buy before its too late" QIHU article on October 6th. Since then the stock price was even below $61 (your article published at $68 or so), and he is still not long as he demands that others do.
Just put your money where you mouth is, why don't you. I guess Kumquat has no money and tries to save some writing SeekingAlpha articles... Just ignore his opinions, guys.
This is in no way my negative opinion on QIHU itself, just on authors credentials.

Tech analysis should be used as a supplemental took, not as a gospel. Graph often works and as often changes direction, for which there will always be an explanation based on the same graph. But sure, one has to be guided by something in unpredictable and unknowable future; a crutch for the weakminded so to say.
