Early 50's and have been investing since my mid 30's when I lost my pension when the company I worked for went out of business. I've been burned both by the tech stock crash of 2000, and to a much lesser degree by the finance bubble crash. I tend to be somewhat risk oriented, but am learning that that isn't always the best strategy for a good return. At present my wifes and my combined portforlio is just under 500k that is tax sheltered. We have another 40k invested that is taxable. We also have another 60 to 70k of rare coins, currency, silver, gold, and platinum bullion coins. My wife and I both work in the I/T field and would like to retire in between 10 and 15 years.
