  • Will Twitter Go To $34 Or $49 After Earnings? Doesn't Matter To Me  [View article]
I am very bullish on Twitter long term. Facebook is a closed network and Twitter is open. That is what people want, at least I do. Barely touch Facebook these days, and I love the new Twitter interface.

Take a look at Internet Media Labs run by Peter Bordes http://bit.ly/1fl8axJ who has a tool Spider that uses the Twitter API to target, identify, and engage relevant social contacts, customers and data. Can't do that with Facebook, and he charges me to contact my network that I built for him? Bad model when people figure it out.

    Marty941,

Please feel free to contact any of these "scammers" -

Some governments will support it, and some will outlaw it. That is how markets are made. Bitcoin gives women in Developing Countries the opportunity to make money, attend schools that most in this forum take for granted.

Digital currencies and Bitcoin have a place in the world yet to be determined, and with 23+% of Americans without bank accounts in the USA, it will have some role for sure in comparison to Western Union.....

We have a partnership with Roya Mahboob who was named to the 2013 TIME 100 Most Influential People in the World:

One of the methods that we send payments to Roya and the women that she has brought to our platform is via Bitcoin. Here is Roya's view on the safety of Bitcoin for women in developing countries.

While there are some that believe BTC will taking over money and banking, I am not one of them. I view Bitcoin in a similar way to movies. When I was a kid, I went to see movies in a movie theater or waited a year or so for that movie to hit network television. Now there are dozens of ways to see a movie and I still like to see certain movies in a movie theater. Bitcoin will become another option in life, and I agree that it could also be an alternative digital currency that wins out in the end.

Not sure if Western Union is a public company, but I certainly would not be long that stock. The board is dominated by "Bankable" posters. In the USA alone, 28% of households are without a bank:

Digital currencies and Bitcoin are an alternative system.

One US Rep is now taking campaign donations in BTC :)

    http://huff.to/1jhGv0Z

"Keynote speaker Congressman Steve Stockman (R-TX) shocked the crowd by taping a QR-code to his suit, accepting Bitcoin donations for his 2014 Senate campaign, the first U.S. Senate candidate to officially embrace the cryptocurrency."

What relevance do any of these five points have to the issue of whether Target should accept Bitcoins?

    ______________________...

The point is we are a "real world" example of how and why we see value in using BTC as a payment system. For us, it is a more efficient process than Western Union or literally having someone on the ground in a developing country pay our Content Partners in cash.

Target has their own decision process about using BTC.

We buy our BTC about a month in advance to our payments, so it helps if the price goes up, but our risk exposure is small.

Will we take more risk of BTC in the future? Yes, if retailers like Target embrace it, and BTC gets more boring and turns into a tool of commerce rather than speculative investment talked about on Seeking Alpha.

    Hope this helps.

Film Annex is a private company and here is our latest release on how we use BTC:

    http://bit.ly/1dQc8aJ

Film Annex enters the world of Bitcoin with the following roles:

    * Distribution of BTC to 300,000+ Content Partners in 245 countries, Islands and Territories

    * Compensation in BTC from Advertising Networks to Film Annex,

    * Liquidity and Conversion of BTC via BTC Online Platforms and Market Makers,

    * Mining of BTC from Florence, Italy,

    * Exploration of new Digital Currencies.

I was able to send a $20 payment to a European Blogger last night for $0.01 cost.

Agreed. I view BTC as the Alta Vista of payments systems. It may take 2-3 iterations before we get the Google of internet payments systems.

Right now we basically buy what we send via Coinbase. We have some USD currency exposure but it is pretty small.

We work with very entrepreneurial Filmmakers. When they have Paypal we send via Paypal. Two issues:

    1. Many developing countries do not have Paypal.

    2. Paypal is more costly, it appears, as a payment system.

Right now the onus in on the Filmmaker to convert his BTC or use it as Coiunbase in US only right now.

    Thanks

Yes, Altavista and Netscape are long gone, but look what they led too. We are users, not speculators of #Bitcoin :

Should I stop using US$ because it is used by organized crime?

I appreciate the stories that you posted, but your position would have more credibility if you had a real profile. Thanks

For us, Bitcoin and Coinbase seem to solve a real problem for us in how we pay our Filmmakers and Bloggers in developing countries:
