Does anybody actually think that Boeing is being careless about safety on the 787? Boeing people have families too, not to mention that their company is at stake. Bureaucrats always have to gripe about something to justify their existence. But it will be Boeing (and Airbus) that keeps all of us safe - not the crewcuts at the FAA. Just like always.
An In-Depth Look at Municipal Bond Insurance [View article]
Municipal bond insurance is nothing more than a non-affiliated company monitizeing the S&P/Moody's rating systems. It was a brilliant deal for the insurers (not so good for the borrowers or lenders) until they screwed it up. Now new companies like Berkshire will rebuild and repeat the same money machines. As a note to investors: take the yield. The "insurance" is not worth it. For one thing, most (>75%) tax-exempt bonds are refunded, and thereby go immediately to Aaa/AAA.
Does Apple's Market Share Gain Really Matter? [View article]
We'll see. I hope you're right, but nothing lasts forever. On the flip side, I have never lost money on AAPL, and I've owned it off and on for many years. But they gotta keep those plates spinning . . .

This article is a complete waste of time. The whole point of the article is contained in the one bold sentence, and everybody already knows this fact anyway. Get off the air until you have something worthwhile to say.
Apple's Mysterious New Portable Device? [View article]
The touch-keyboard ain't working Steve. But an iPhone with a Blackberry sized flip-out qwerty would take over the world (ok, some hyperbole here, but it would be the best of both worlds). Oh, and push email would be good too.

I agree. What you left out was some sort of comment on the bone head BHP play. This new guy is awful. We should have know it when we saw him make his first investor presentation as CEO. Now its 15 points too late. Grrrrrrrrr.
Apple Announces Leopard, Leopard Server Launch Oct. 26 [View article]
I wonder if the expectations regarding a sales lift from Leopard are justified. The Apple OS already does practically everything that matters and does them both well and safely. I'm a big fan of Apple and an AAPL shareholder, but I can't agree on the forecast of a big sales lift from what is really just OSX 10.4 -> OSX 10.5 upgrade. I will of course buy the Leopard family pack for my own two and my daughters one Mac.
