  • Whole Foods Faces A Growth Slowdown [View article]
I agree with the author re WFM price still too high. They are definitely facing more competition. Fred Meyers (Krogers) here in Oregon has just remodeled the local store and it now has a lot more organic food of all types. I can now buy many things here that I had to travel to an adjoining town for previously. Of course it is not like WFM but it is making inroads. We also have a local Market of Choice which has a large selection of higher end organic food choices. So don't assume things will stay the same. I would still probably buy WFM at around 40.

  • Why Einhorn Should Be Shorting Whole Foods And Not Chipotle [View article]
Akram's Razor I am with you 100 % on your analysis. I want to own WFM, but NOT at this price. I have been waiting for a pullback which I think is coming soon for the market as a whole. By the way, Morningstar also has said fair market value for WFM is 70! Thank you for your efforts and keep up trying to explain how the stock market is as much about proper timing as the right stock.

  • Starbucks India Focus Leaves Room For Fantasy [View article]
Thank you for such a well-researched article! I have been waiting since the first of the year for an entry point into SBUX. Hopefully the time is near. I try to take a disciplined approach and not chase stocks.

Just for fun, my own personal experience 40 years ago when I stayed with an Indian family in Madras, was to be given coffee with milk in the morning. They drank it themselves -- it wasn't just for me. Based on that I was surprised to see that coffee consumption in India is so low.

  • "Two mega developments will impact world copper consumption: the level of global business activity and substitution," writes Simon Hunt, a veteran watcher of the market. With neither factor boding well for the metal, he says, all that's propping prices is copper's financialization. This too will end; "copper prices will fall sharply, and that is almost a given."  [View news story]
Sorry, my knowledge about aluminum wiring comes from the personal experience of selling an older mobile home. However, I have seen aluminum mentioned quite often as a rather poor alternative to copper.

The substitute is aluminum. Aluminum wiring has been used in the past in the United States. Sometime before the 1970's it was used in mobile homes. If you sell an older mobile home today people will often ask if the wiring is part aluminum. It can be a fire hazard. I doubt the Chinese would be too concerned about that.

  • Behind the Scenes With Buffett’s Biographer, Alice Schroeder [View article]
Great stuff. This really helps fills out my understanding of Buffet. It was worth the long time it took to read! Her insights into Wall Street analysts were equally informative.
