This article criticizes the BDC model in total and uses only ACAS, ALD, and ARCC to substantiate that position.
As shown by the tables, many BDCs have maintained dividends.
I suspect that we may be at or near the bottom for most BDCs. With the contraction of bank credit, future opportunities may be even better for BDCs that have survived. I also think those which have suspended dividends will begin dividend payments again in the future.
On the other hand, I do think the share price for many BDC's will not go back to their past highs anytime soon; but the reason for that is more about dilution than the economy or their business model.
