Battery Investing for Beginners, Part 2
[View article]
After all that reading and commentary I thought there would be a summary on what company will have the latest and greatest development technology brought to market the quickest to take advantage of first in. If you will the apple or intel of the battery world whomever they might be. I was left with alot about the author and the companies that are participating in this revolution. When you throw all these in a mixer along with the numerous solar names and different technology what are the chances of picking the long term winners. Remember, once upon a time there were 60 US car manufacturers...
Why You Need TIPS in Your Retirement Account [View article]
Tell me why anyone would want to buy TIPs? Paid semi annually, and taxed which automatically put you behind the curve. The dollar weak and getting weaker. If someone wanted protection from inflation why wouldn't they invest in countries with commodity export base and low debt. Seems those currency would do far better. Plus the companies or country ETFs at least have a dividend which is taxed at the lower rate. I doubt if the smart money is going into TIPs
Algonquin Power Income Fund Still a Good Buy? [View article]
There is an old saying about even a blind dog can stumble onto a bone. Your Algonquiin pick is just that. Even as a rookie I have probably half a dozen picks that have done that well or better. Almost anyone buying anything around mar 09 has had a good return. The question is going forward.

Paul Can you take a look at USG the sheet rock manufacturer that should do well in any recovery. Shares have been steadily climbing and Warren B owns a good size chunk.
Volcom: Small Cap with Excellent Upside [View article]
Paul: There are so many companies out there to put a trade on like you do, why play with a company dead smack in the middle of the impact zone. Volcom is a specialty clothing and accessories designer and marketer to snowboarding, skateboarding and surfing enthusiasts.
The consumers are broke. Spending per capita is down. Big box retailers are closing left and right. People are losing homes more now then before and jobs destruction continues. We have not hit the bottom of the cycle yet. Thus it seems companies in a better category are available for selection.
Why It's Time to Consider Junk Bond ETFs [View article]
This article is so late that is actually an insult. Anyone following anything knows this is not the time to be buying any of the names listed in the article. Perhaps the author just wants to keep posting article for some reason. Certainly this article was not worth time it took to read it and even less because I have wasted my time to write this post.
I just took a look at the 5 yr BP chart and only during the crash in Mar 09 and only for a short period did BP fall below $40.00 in a general statement. As we know Mar 09 was heck of day in market history. That setting aside with a break even of $40.15 on this trade, I think this is as close to a slam dunk as I can ask for. Paul your great with your straightforward and simple to understand posts. Have you gone back, I am sure you have and could you post or send an email on how your portfolio has performed over say the last year.
Think Taxes Are on the Rise? Consider These Municipal ETFs (Part I) [View article]
You must be either mentally challenged to recommend funds like MYC with an expense ratio of 1.85%!!! are you kidding me? An investor would be better off just going to the california muni treasury site and bidding on bonds or at the least finding a low cost ETF but certainly not what you have recommended.
The Age of Turbulence: Preparing for the Crash [View article]
Looks like this post stimulated some dialog. First let me say that if you go to Gerald Celente website and look at his forecasts over the last 20 yrs you will find the list impressive. Then put together, marc faber, Raoul Rabini, Taleb,Jim Rogers, Schiff and a few others to get a different view of what is occurring in the economy. What you will find is the arrogant poster who feels his little model can cover the bases has fallen in love with his own painting. To me it is all about china. China buys the debt, china is keeping the dollar were its trading, china is keeping the inflation down by producing cheap goods, china is also figuring out how to unload their billions of dollars in reserve with out doing harm to themselves. They are hiring the smartest minds in the financial world. The only question is when..not if they will figure it out. The US is on a path of destruction. While China is buying assets and mining companies. Securing cheap oil in the middle east, cheap materials in Brazil we are pissing trillions of dollars away and encumbering our nation to the point of collapse. If you have not read about china and africa, your eyes will be wide open after reading the story. In short china is taking over the commodity rich africa with hard money loans to corrupt leaders. Migration of chinese citizens. Population is now 750,000 and growing. I know I was shocked when I read that as well. There buying African companies for cash. The US on the other hand is going more toward socialism the china. We have a president who has while a senator accomplished nothing. We elected a man who reads a tele prompter like an expert but has never run a state, a company. How is it then possible that in a world of brilliant minds we can only find this man to lead our country. The man who should have become president but told the real truth is Ron Paul. How can a senator who is putting a bill forward to require the FEDS to open their books ever get elected? That in itself tells you the inside money and power brokers will not let it happen. Watch the actions don't listen to the words.
Microsoft: 'Office' Space at a Reasonable Price [View article]
Paul wonder why you picked MS? as opposed to say Apple which is dynamic company hitting on all cylinders. MS is now looked at with a slanted eye and is falling or has fallen out of favor. People do not have to upgrade their computers. With money tight and Vista having bombed terribly, I think MS has lost an edge.

I have been reading Paul for a bit now and this one also loses me a little. If the best time to buy is when the stocks are at there lows and right now are at the 52 week high. It seems the trade starts against the idea of buying at the low..Also why spends the dollars to buy both companies instead of the one with the possibility of the highest return? Please clarify
