Isn't the dividend cut smaller than the new stock buy back amount? If so, I would expect the ratings agencies to still be looking for either another dividend cut or lower capex.

  • Before You Sell Your Exelon Stock... [View article]
I'm even more negative after reading this article. A 50% cut in the dividend is NOT priced in. Who wants to own a utility that's lost a TWO THIRDS of its value and get a paltry 3.3% or so.

I sold my Mom's stock before its last leg up to 92 and at the time felt badly about doing so and missing the top, but in hindsight she thinks I was a rocket scientist. I've been looking at getting back in ever since, but its been a clusterf since then and I'm STILL not interested.

I'm looking at DUK and CTL as dividend plays and possibly a REIT, but not NLY and not until after June so I can get a fix on the economy and our glorious budget negotiators.

  • AT&T (T) gets the nod from the FCC to purchase Comcast (CMCSA) wireless licenses. [View news story]
Given that AT&T had to give T-Mobile a couple billion dollars of wireless spectrum as part of its break up fee from the failed merger, maybe this just gets AT&T back to where it was?

  • Exelon Cannot Afford Its Current Dividend [View article]
Great article. I did read commentary someplace that if commodities start going up again, EXC will be in better shape.

However, I think more than anything, this merger they have gone through recently was really damaging to their business.
