  • Why Microsoft Just Became A Compelling Investment Opportunity [View article]
Author is seemingly blind to the fact that Microsoft's technology leadership is corroding, it's major market niches are not growing/declining, and two of the last three biggest products launches of its core platform (Windows operating system) have been disasters. Going into the no-margin hardware business (Surface) with a badly thought-out and obsolete product? Little acquisitions that don't grow? The recent reorganization? Only talent Balmer ever had was making Gates feel good. Product and position and technology come first, not financial leftovers of past operations. Microsoft is like a milk cow whose yield has dropped off to the point where her value in hamburg compares favorably to her feed cost.

  • Powershares International Dividend Achievers: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly [View article]
    (1) Your fee information is incorrect. The PID expense ratio is 0.56%. Period. Total. As in, that's all there is. The 0.40% Management fee is that portion of the 0.56% which goes to Invesco for managing the fund, with the other 0.16% going to operating and administrative expenses. A PID owner does not - as you say - pay the 0.40% and the 0.56%. (2) Also fyi, PID is a Index fund. Invesco is not selecting the stocks within the industry sectors. The NASDAQ Index brand people do that.

  • Is India Sitting On A Razor's Edge? [View article]
Thank you for a nice article. I have been nervous about my Indian position for a lot of sociological/political reasons, but you gave a good impartial perspective. In short, there are a lot of countries that have more going for them right now than do the West Asian ones.
